Nice!

Seems heavy even empty - but looks pretty sizable.

Re: Military Trailer M101A1

I thought about painting it the same color as the truck actually! I am torn though the trailer was so complete and intact it would be kind of fun to leave it as is. If i painted it any other color I would have to paint the cover or get a new one made. If I put to much money into it I could have just gotten a nicer trailer.

This is one of the lightest military trailers. It is still heavy but I don't ever plan on going to far with it.

Dude I would leave it AS IS! that thing is badass!
The only thing is that now you have to match those 37" tires... its kinda sad when your trailer has bigger tires than your truck, HA!:raar:

I had been looking for one of those around here for some time. Mind if I ask your location, and price you paid? Thanks Joe.

I paid a little extra for mine and avoided the trouble of buying it directly from the government. I paid $900 from a guy on Craigslist in Wisconsin.

If you want to buy from the government check out:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/

There is a bunch of guys on there that buy and restore military surplus items.
After you've done your research check out:
http://www.govliquidation.com/index.html

That is the government's version of ebay. I've never done it myself but from what I can tell it could take up to months to get what your bought. They do a background check on you for each purchase. A couple post i've read the guys have said they will never do it again because it wasn't worth it.

Some trailers to watch for are:

American m101a1 (no surge brakes)
American m101a2 (surge brakes)
Canadian M101 same name but a smaller trailer.

watch out for any other trailers. a lot are designed for very big trucks and weight 2000plus pounds empty.

Was it located in Wyocena, WI? If so I've driven past that one so many times thinking about buying it. I think they look bad ass, but just wasn't sure I would get that much use out of it.
