I've noticed many people complaining about the slip yoke bump thing on the H2's. Very recently, GM came out with a fix for this. They replace the front yoke of the rear drive shaft. Parts are on back order right now, but you can go to your local dealer and get them to order it for your VIN #. That will get the parts there a little faster. Good luck guys.

I've had the "bump" on so many GM's that I have owned, its like standard equipment isn't it?

Remove the slip yoke from the tc and smear some RTV on the output shaft (best to jack up the rear so no oil drains from the case or into the yoke after re install). Smash the yoke back on and let the RTV set up. Give it several hours, overnight if possible. Problem solved for about 50 to 75k then you have to do it again.

This isn't the same problem that other 4 wheel drive GM vehicles experience from a lack of lubrication on the splines. This is from a bit too much free play.
That RTV fix is temporary at best. |
There is a special lube you can get for the "old Bump" at the dealer. its actually caused by suspension windup while braking. as the vehicle transfers weight forward the suspension get stuck at the yoke and is held, then when you let off the brake it releases the load and you hear the "BUMP".
As for the sloppy spline there is no good fix ,but to replace it. |
Please provide more specifics on this. I want this fixed right on my 05.
