Is is an anti-Hummer sentiment?

Customs seize $26,000 US from Quebec trio
DETROIT (AP) - Customs officers seized $26,000 US cash from three people who were trying to enter the United States from Canada to buy Super Bowl tickets, authorities said.

The trio was inside a black Hummer H3 from Quebec that pulled up to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection booths at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel on Friday morning, Customs spokesman Ron Smith said.

Under federal law, people must declare cash they are bringing into the country if it's more than $10,000.

When asked if they were bringing in any money, the three said they each had less than $10,000. Upon further questioning, the trio admitted that the $26,000 was from a business and was divided up to avoid hitting the $10,000 declaration limit, Smith said.

Officers seized the money and filed civil charges against the three.

They can get the cash back if they can document its source, Smith said.

Get used to it. Still pisses me off though.

Exactly, if it was a minivan, they would have just said "vehicle".

There was another article like this posted in the H2 forum about a week ago. Typical media BS.

More bad press ..

I feel that we owe our Canadian neighbors $26000 plus interest plus an apology. It isn't even news.

The Trio is to be complemented on their choice of vehicles though.

Best regards, Happy Jack

Yea a Hummer is somewhat high profile. But it happens in the press to other vehicles too.

Today in the local San Jose newspaper an article appeared after a pedestrian was hit yesterday morning on Mount Hamilton road above San Jose. They noted the vehicle involved was a "red Corvette".

It is kind of a compliment because like someone said, "if it was a minivan they would have called it a vehicle". That's one reason I bought a HUMMER because it turns heads and is recognized.
