I was reading an article in Hummer Adventures magazine and it mentioned a place in Arizona called Woodpecker Trail.

Has anyone been on it, or know anything about it?

I was reading where Road & Track took a group of H3's through there in 3 hours. It looks like fun. (Definitely do-able.) Located near Florence, AZ, just southeast of Phoenix.

The trail ratings in the link above, gives some of the obstacles 4 and 4+ ratings. One bypass gets rated a 4 also. I noticed there weren't any Hummers in their group.

What are these disc's on his wheels? Commerically available or something he personally fab'd?

They look like the lids off my old trash cans

Are you from AZ? I travel to phx a ton and see sooooo many h2's and they are all blinged up! Do you agree? But i see a lot of other rigs that makes me think there must be some decent wheeling around...

Looks like a cool trail Rox. The scenery isn't as pretty as Moab, but very cool none-the-less.


Forget the man-hole cover rims. Did you see this guy's butt?

We got some great trails here in Arizona. And we got some good ones around the Phoenix area.
There is a lot of blinged up Hummer H2 in the area, you will see they once at a Hummer dealer event, and then you will never see them again.
I hit all the Hummer events in the Phoenix area.
You could say that I am a Off Road Junkie.

THAT was not a nice way to start the day.

Those wheel covers are like the ones I always see on H1's. Fubar, I think a set of those might just help keep the scratches off your new wheels!

I got to do some great trails down by Yuma in March. The desert in Arizona is really cool. Over by Phoenix there are GIANT saguaro cacti. The great big ones can be hundreds of years old. They can be very pretty when they bloom. Of the trails I was on, most of them followed the washes for miles. It was beautiful.

haven't replaced the rims yet.

Mostly because the truck has been at the dealership since I got back from Moab. The dealership is still working on the over heating issue. I guess my truck likes Moab because I had no over heating issues while there. Got back to NV and drove to CA and had nothing but problems.

But yes that was my thought that those covers just might help protect the rims if and when I get around to replacing them.

Do they come in chrome?

I have some pretty bad scratches, too, although a constant coat of trail dirt keeps them looking good.

I swapped emails with A/R about the off-road-advertised teflon not holding up off-road. Here's what they had to say:

I don’t have a repair kit yet, we are working on it. I will forward this to my guys in California at the factory who were working on it. I really don’t know where they stand at this moment.

Big O will not take them back because of owner stupidity and I don't blame them.

They also said they had no idea about a repair kit.

To be honest it would not have mattered what type of 18 inch rims I had, they would have gotten dinged up on the particular trail I was on.
Bigger tires might have helped prevent the damage. 35's on 18 inch rims look great in my opinion but aired down that extra inch of rim size isn't helping. As seen by my dings if I had stayed with 17 inch rims those dings on the rim would have been on the side wall of the tire and not on the rim.

I'm considering the rancho 4 inch lift and will have to re-think tire size and rim choice. At this point I don't know what I want to do. I love wheeling and dings are going to be part of that experience. That is something I will have to live with.
