I am getting ready to re-rubber my Hummer and am having trouble deciding between 37x12.5s and 35x13.5s. I am concerned with rubbing and power loss issues by going with the 37s. On the plus side im thinking it will help the breakover angle and groung clearance.

I usually play in sand and rock so the 13.5 width should help with the ground pressure. If I went with the 37x13.5s im sure to have problems (dont want a lift).

Any feed back from those of you who are running 37s would be nice. Thanks, Kevin.

The 13.5's will rub a lot.
I've run 37" MTR's and currently have 37" Iroks and they both rub about as much as the stock 35" BFG's.

I am running MT/Rs and have a very slight rub on one side of the front sway bar. I have had them on there for about 5K miles or so and the rubbing is not enough to take the paint off the bar yet.

I have had each tire at full compression, fully articulating and still no rubbing for me.

The only thing I thought was noticeable from the change-over was the brake feel.

Did either one of you check ground clearance before and after?

Paragon, I take it you are running 37x12.5s? Anyone running 35x13.5s?

Yes, I am running 37x12.5. No, I didn't measure ground clearance but I would guess it would be around 1/2 inch increase.

I'm running 37x12.5's and they do rub on the sway bar on both sides, of course so did my factory 35's. I did not measure prior to placing the 37's on, so I couldn't help you there.

I just replaced my stock BFG AT's with BFG MTA's. I stayed with the 35's. They aren't rubbing any more than the All Terrains did. A 37 will rub more noticeably. I like the way the 35's look also. The wheelwell doesn't look stuffed full of rubber. But, that's just my opinion and I'm sure either size would be great.

I also have 37x12.5s. I have a rub issue on one side with the back of the wheel well, sounds like crap when I turn but no harm done.

I can't give you exact numbers on clearance, but I've had non-Hummer owners come up and ask me why my H2 looks "bigger" than other ones they've seen. So the difference is noticeable even to a layman.

You can run 37's without "rubbing" if the steering stops are adjusted. (ie, adjust the steering stops (bolts) so that the wheels will just barely miss when turned all the way right or left).

I have one word for all of you: Lift Kit!

Unsure if the air ride can. Mines not.

My 37" SSR's rub exactly where the 35's had the paint wore off the sway bar. Usually only notice it when backing up with the wheel cut all the way to either side.
