I bet some of you are off today.

But did any of you remember to celebrate this past Friday?
Quote:

Lee-Jackson Day is a holiday celebrated in the Commonwealth of Virginia for the birthdays of Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. Lee-Jackson Day is observed on the Friday before Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and results in the closing of state offices such as the DMV.
Don't forget to celebrate your freedoms people.

BTW, what are you all doing today since you're off? Hey, we used to celebrate a thing called Lee-Jackson-King Day.

is right. Used to celebrate? What happened?

Oh, never mind. I can guess.

This got me wondering, what ever happened to James Earl Ray?

Meh, he's dead.

Alabama still has proper holidays:

Martin Luther King, Jr./Robert E. Lee's Birthday January 19
Confederate Memorial Day April 26
Jefferson Davis' Birthday June 7

MLK day? What a joke. What an upstanding citizen. Plagiarized his doctoral thesis & cheated on his wife every time he turned around.

X2 DRTY!

Not celebrating, but I am not working today either. Think I will just go wash the H2

None the less...still helped make remarkable things happen for the black community. I dont think it should be a "holiday" though. There have been many others like him, of all colors, that have done remarkable things for our country that we have no holiday for. IMHO

I celebrated by watching "Barbershop" while wearing Kenny's pants without a belt. Then made some fresh collards.

I didn't bring all my stuff out because I am planning on celebrating the whole month of February.

CO Hummer 01-17-2006 02:12 PM

I didn't get the mail that I'm waiting for because all the post office workers were out celebrating, participating in marches, etc

yeah right.
