My dealer is to call me when they come in, and they haven't called yet.

My guess is no.

My wife's H3 came in about a week ago and we had the chrome cap put on then.

H3ProspectKy 09-09-2005 01:59 AM

I ordered mine through Hummer of Novi about 2 weeks ago and it came 2 days later.

tony d 09-09-2005 09:58 AM

do you have your dealers parts dept. phone # so I can call and order one ?

H3wannabe 09-09-2005 10:54 AM

There is a guy on eBay selling 10 of the correct H3 ones for $25 less (shipped) than dealer pricing:

...actually he now has 9.

are they hard to install...or do you recommend the dealer do it....Do you have to drill all the holes? Or what im asking is can a girl do this job on her own....I probable have more/nicer tools than most guys

h3\'er 09-09-2005 04:30 PM

Saw one in the display case at a dealer the other day. if someone wants one they might try calling the dealer and see if the will ship

I haven't installed mine yet (as I don't even have it yet), but based on what I have read it is fairly easy and comes with a template. I plan on installing mine myself. I believe that you do have to drill the body though, so you need to be comfortable doing that.

LOL! Funny! I guess they are shipping now. My dealer just called me to let me know they are in stock now.

Install time next week. Sweet!

H3 Hummer 09-09-2005 06:05 PM

Laura, I think a girl can do it better then any guy. It is easy and you just have to be patient and drill the holes with the supplied template. The directions are actually good so if you have patience I think you will be fine.

I saw another post out there about removal of the old gas cap ring. Something about removing from behind instead of prying out. I will look for it.

Send pictures when complete!

hmrlvr 09-09-2005 07:12 PM

Yes, removing it from behind is easier, no prying needed and attaching the new one with rear access also is easier. You will however need to pull out the rear fender well plastic for access. It's only four bolts and a few plastic pins. The whole job is still under an hour

Laura 09-09-2005 08:39 PM

thank you

I installed mine, one note of caution though, I had to use a size down on the drill bit (than what the instructions recommended), you can always drill out a little more, but you can't fill it in if it's too big. I don't know if anyone else had this issue, took about 20 minutes total and looks great. I purchased the GM locking gas cap for an additional $38.

tony d 09-11-2005 12:56 PM

h3oh is the chrome gas door coming with the locking gas cap ?

Crisco 09-17-2005 11:53 PM

My dealer has them and I installed one today. I had no trouble pulling the original bezel loose by getting my fingers under it and between the paint.

The install was very easy. H3ProspectKy, what drill bit size did you end up using? My instructions called for 19/64 which turned out to be the correct size for me.

4churchill 09-18-2005 02:34 AM

We have the chrome door in stock as well...people are lining up for them!!

kacyk 09-18-2005 06:02 AM

Any advantage of the factory unit over the others I see advertised? The other one's I see on line rewuire no drilling and lock at the door as well.

4churchill 09-18-2005 01:34 PM

Kacy

on my '03 I went AM on the door, and facotry on my '05...must say I liked the fit, finish, and overall quality of the AM better
