(I did a search here and didn't find much discussion on these)

I finally bought some forged MC2 wheels and now need tires. I was thinking of Toyo Open Country
M/T's again in a 35-12.50-18. However, my tire store says they are on back order but offered me a set of Cooper STT's.

It seems to be a copy of the Toyos's, albeit with a more aggressive shoulder pattern. Anyone running these and care to comment?

Cooper makes some excellent tires. I've used them for about 10 years now. Only had on problem on my F-150. It had Discoverer AT's. One had a piece of the inner steel belt wire poke through the sidewall. It was replaced by the dealer. Other than that 4 trucks with 4 sets of Coopers.....no problems. They seem to last alot longer than other tires I've used too!

Those are the tires I just ordered for a set of wheels I was going to use. Turns out they were too narrow for my setup.

Look and from what I've heard, act just like the Toyo's. I wouldn't hesitate to use them at all.

A narrow aggressive tire works good on mud and snow. Sometimes as good as chains.I like the looks of those Cooper tires.

kacyk, have you considered the Nitto Terra Grapplers? We had good luck with them.

Ken, yeah I had Terra Grapplers after 2 days of having the Mud Grapplers. The ride on the Terra Grapplers was excellent. However, I just wanted an aggressive tread design. The Toyo M/T's were a great compromise and these Coopers seem to be the same thing albeit with a better side wall design.

They look good, I saw some on a pickup the other day and had a good look at them. While the sidewall pattern is more "designed" and detailed, I don't think they have a better sidewall than the Toyo MT's and I don't think it as aggressive. The Toyo's have some very big sidewall lugs that really bite onto rock (too much sometimes). </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Phil, acurate assessment. I took a look at both tires this morning and the Toyo sidewalls do have larger lugs whereas the Cooper's are just a design. My rims come next Tuesday and I'm inclined to get the Toyo's again but they are back ordered. I guess I'll have to get the Cooper's, which isn't that bad...
