Has anyone ever towed anything with their H3? If so what kind of response did you get from the H3?

Has anyone ever towed anything with their H3? If so what kind of response did you get from the H3?

I towed a 2500 popup w/o a trailer brake -- no probs at all.... slow as always, but handled it great

yeah i towed between 3500 and 4000 lbs to the dump once, and it was fine i would reccomend brakes on the trailer tho

I haven't towed anything with it yet. In fact, what all do I need in order to tow? I got the complete towing convenience package, but where do I get the ball attachment needed? Is there anything else I need? Pardon my ignorance.

You can pick up everything you need at any auto parts store or Walmart.

So, what is this "Towing Convenience Group"? I have my F250 I usually tow with, and towing my 4500k toyhauler with the I5 powered H3 seems ridiculous when I can use my truck. Nonetheless, I wonder what this convenience thing has in it. Too late for my wife's H3, but still would like to know.

I wouldn't be afraid to hook up if it weren't for the motor. I'm not sure I'd get her up to highway speeds....

Any time. It has been a while since I bought the items but I am guessing anywhere from $25 to $35 should cover you. I don't know about what kind of drop you will need on the receiver though. Anyone know? I use the standard receiver on my Mountaineer but the H3 is slightly higher. May not need a drop at all.

I've towed a 12" utility trailer. The H3 did an awesome job!

I've towed my ol'lady around a couple of times with no problems...

I've towed my utility trailer with a couple of bikes in it, or a couple of ATV's with no problems at all. It went just as fast.

Do I need a drop to tow a trailer?

I towed my waverunner a few times. Its is a bit more stuggish but handles and brake great. I would reccommend a drop down as you can see from a pic of me towing my runner.

I regularly tow a 4000lb pontoon boat in and out of the river with no problem, but never long distance.

I think a 4 inch drop is perfect. I tow a lot with my H3. It tows fine, If your in hills you might want to put in to 3rd gear, and leave it in 3rd gear. You gas milage will suffer, but it will perform much better. When I lock it in 3rd going up & down hills towing a boat, I get about 12 mpg.

Im doing a 2" drop with 3500 boat and is nice and level.. Stay in 3rd gear and use 4hi getting up off ramp with no struggle. Really tows great!! I do 35# cold in tires.. Thought 30 was wishy-washy.

I towed a 5x8 Uhaul last weekend with two couches for 3 hours on the interstate each way. I was really not that impressed with it....struggled really bad once it got past 65

But, I'm sorta biased since I usually tow with my 2500HD GMC Duramax....pulls my 30' gooseneck with two Jeep Scramblers 80-85 no problem.
