Soft, Bill Kervaski got so mad at Hummer, it worked, they will send your transfer case to Alabama to take care Bill, your Hummer build date will be delayed by 3 more months. It is not too late, send 100 dozen Krispy Kremes donuts to Hummer plant, they will take the transfer case from someone else to build your Hummer.
I have the Hummer but I can't find the locking gas cap; you have the gas cap, but no Hummer. h2fan in New York is sending me a locking gas cap, thanks to h2fan. We are all helping each others, it is the Cyber Hummer Club. One of these day when technology is available, we can all have a cyber virtual reality Hummer off-road gathering, do some virtual group hug thing.

My new locking gap cap is on the way from h2fan. Amy, did you unscrew the current cap as someone suggested in previous post(which I cannot find)? I think it was Hummerbot. or did you just cut the current cap off? Where are these crews? on the vehicle at the opening of gas intake? not the ring around the cap?

HummerGirl 11-18-2002 09:07 PM

You know what....I did not even need any special tools to get the barb out of the hole.

I just kept wiggling and manuevering the end until it popped out. The end of the barb is T shaped so it only takes some "puzzle" work to get it out.

Take some paper towels with you as I got a little gas on my hands. I did not notice it at first but hubby said it was not an attractive scent on a girlie-girl.

That was me (hummerbot).

I used a little screwdriver to pop out the 'T' on the end of the gas cap leash. Didnt want to cut it so I could put it back stock.

Thanks to h2fan, I got the Stant 11589 locking gas cap from him in New York. h2fan, my check is in the mail. Fits perfectly. Now I am free to go back to my nasty cut throat back stabbing business practices without worrying about anyone put weird stuff into my gas tank.

Thanks to Hummerbot, I pulled out the cap attachment from the base easily, just wiggled it a bit.
I don't think I will paint the cap, I like the little warning letters on the cap, looks military to me. When I was in a combat engineering field company, we used to stencil paint letters on our military vehicles.
I did spray paint the license frame screws black by using model spray primer, which is mat black; also changed the dealer frame to a solid black frame, making my butt in solid all black color.

HummerGirl 11-19-2002 11:04 PM

I didn't get a dealer frame for license plate...

maybe I should whine and get one with my FREE oil change!!!

AMY...

Go to www.hummerstuff.com and look at the chrome hummer license frames. Maybe if you are good Santa Claus will bring you one as a stocking stuffer.

As long as I own this Hummer, the dealer will give free hand wash and shammy dry. 5 days a week if needed. Twice a week is average!

OLE YLLR 11-20-2002 03:53 AM

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR HUMMER AT!! THE WASH DEAL IS GREAT.

Afreet 11-20-2002 04:44 PM

I know it was posted earlier but what is the model of the locking gas cap from Pep Boys?

h2fan 11-20-2002 09:02 PM

stant 11589 for the gas cap

HummerGirl 11-20-2002 09:25 PM

Hey Tony...

BA 11-21-2002 03:42 AM

Somebody is selling them on eBay. $25.

MAC 11-21-2002 03:59 AM

$5 profit per cap, all you need to sell is 12,000 caps to pay for the Hummer. If Uncle Sam is involved here, then you have to sell 16,000-20,000 caps. If you put HUMMER name on the cap, maybe there is another $5 pop, all you have to sell is 6,000 caps to pay for the Hummer. What you do is to start a rumor that someone somewhere put sugar or water in a Hummer without locking gas cap. Count them money! Laughing all the way to the bank! HummerGirl 11-21-2002 10:29 AM

I did not see those. I got a better deal! I got a nice cap and made two new friends in the process!

BIG Z- where did you get your H2? Not an authorized dealer, I bet. Your id says you're from central Oregon. That's a looooong way from the nearest Hummer dealer.
