Did I read a previous post about static on the stereo when playing a movie ? I recently installed the visualogic headrest system and fm modulator set at 89.5mhz. An audible whine can be heard when the car is running, and increases in decibel level with acceleration...
any thoughts ? Thanks |

Thanks for your help. What type of setup did you use for your headsets ? Sorry for the onslaught, but you're way ahead of me on the add-ons.

I have the vizualogic dvd player and headrest monitors. I installed a heavy duty radio shack noise filter and made sure the ground conections were excellent from the start and still heard significant whine. I then increased the gain on the back of the fm modulator and that helped some. The real fix was to increase the volume of the dvd player using the remote to max volume (I didn't know the dvd player had a volume setting on it). Now the sound is loud out of the speakers at a low volume stting on the radio. It completely eliminated the whine and sounds great. If you turn it up very very loud you can still hear the whine, but I'm talking damage your speakers loud. In summary, the trick is to do anything that increases the sound volume without turning the volume knob way up. Good luck.

You are hearing alternator whine. First, check your grounds. Make sure they are clean and on the frame. Second, if you ran your audio RCA cable alongside the power wire then separate them. Finally, get a "ground loop isolator" and put it in-line in between the RCA out and the input of the FM modulator and RF headphone transmitter.
