I have been talking to R. Tom Cepek (Dick Cepek) about getting some spline drive lug nuts. McGard makes them but doesn't offer them in all black. Tom has some of the chrome ones, pictured below, and can get them zinc plated flat black. It's, at most, $150 for a set of 35 or so with the special socket that fits them. But if several sets are ordered the cost will be lower for everyone.

I am getting my stock wheels powdercoated black and will not have the little plastic hub cover on.
This covers the entire stud so no threads will be showing and you don't have to worry about painting them. Personally I wanted some so that I wouldn't have to deal with the rust showing on the studs.

Interested in getting any? Post here or PM me about the details.

Sim beadlocks...

timgco 08-27-2004 09:42 PM

should they just be called simlocks? I like that look, but do they give you an advantage over the stock rims when airing them down?

DURAMAX TIM 08-28-2004 10:05 AM

"but do they give you an advantage over the stock rims when airing them down?"

Yes they do!

Since u lightened your wallet so much buying the fakes, u'll have less of a chance breaking a bead.

Kevin B 08-28-2004 01:36 PM

I dont know about other states, but in CA. beadlocks are illegal. You either get the fake ones or risk a ticket.

TBarrow 08-28-2004 02:58 PM

California has a law for everything. Do they actually look for them? As many items as the police have to keep up with I would think they would ignore some.

He also sells real beadlock wheels. From his website:

Actual Beadlock
Wheels Shown Above Require Special Mounting & Balancing Procedures, and a
weekly wheel maintenance Schedule to maintain Bolt and Retaining Ring
tightness.
If you're not prepared for this rigorous amount of work, please
use our Simulated Beadlock Wheels which do not require a maintenance schedule,
but look identical to actual Beadlocks!

I would like to get a set of the lug nuts. My lugs look horrible from being weathered, covering them up would really make a difference.

partsguy 08-30-2004 06:05 PM

Paragon you make the call,It look like 4sets.
Then again 4 make not a group buy

PARAGON 08-30-2004 07:23 PM

He said he could work a better price if he got an order for "a few hundred" of the lug nuts. I am still getting them. Check your PMs for a message from me so you can send Tom your information. We will have to pre-pay since this is a custom job and he is actually doing this more as a favor than anything.

HUMMERDOGG 08-30-2004 08:08 PM

Paragon-

Send me a pm when you get the info. I'll take a look at them.

Thanks.
