Has anybody else bent a rear lowere shock mount?

I have seen the u-bolt shock mount slider plates made by Amstar. Are there any other brands out there??

I saw those too but I have never been sucessful in getting email back from them or in finding a price for their stuff.

Those ubolt/shock mount skid plates aren't rocket science. That kind of design has been around for years for CJs/YJs. Frankly I bet it wouldn't be too hard to modify the factory sping plate with some 3/16" plate (assuming you or a friend as the correct tools).

You mean like this?

Happened yesterday on our Death Valley trip. But that rock is couple inches shorter now.

It looks familiar.

Lucky the u-bolt didn't break off.
I bent the shock mount bolt back and up at an angle(rear section of the plate). The shock is still working but the bushing is tweaked a little.

I think I'll buy a new plate and reinforce it with a skid plate.

The flat bottom make a good place for a floor jack in the future.

It looks like the AmStar skid plate bolts on (using the u-bolts) in addition to the stock plate.

Amstar'site had no prices or ordering info??

I was probably going about 40-45 mph when I hit. The impact actually sheared off a piece of the mount. You can kind of see it in the pic. There might have still been some damage even with a skid.

HA!!!
The bottom of your truck is starting to look like mine

Holy crap... 40-45!? wow. I guess you are lucky. That's Freakin awesome though. Last week I went to Tyler-Foot Crossing (near Nevada City, CA). We gave the H3 a rest that day and took the 06 Rubicon. The fastest I could go was about 20-25. The tires are a bit smaller than the H3, so I assume I could have gone faster and kept control in the Hummer. I couldn't imagine going 40-45. Based on your pics though I see that Death Valley has a much different terrain. And btw, your pics from DV are great too.

Actually, on some of the straightaways we were doing 55-60. I was going around a turn when this happened so I had slowed down.

The trucks handled great. We were trying to do some power slides around some of the turns but the TC kept kicking in.

Wow, using the H3 as a rally car!

Yup.

When I went to prairie city I finally shutoff the TC. Of course that was when I was doing mock 5 through the mud. I know what you mean though. Before I shut it off, I would hit the gas with the wheel cranked and got nothing unless I used less power!
