After over 7500 miles I have come up with my first real bitch. The front seats are comfy enough getting to and from work on a daily basis but it is killing my lower back on the long road trips. I have tried adjusting the lumbar support, the position and angle of the seat. I realize after having been thru a few ied attacks my back and bone joints are not what they should be yet but i suffer greatly after I spend over 4 hours in the seat.

i have the same problem the seats are terrible on the back..i'm trying to get the front of the seat raised so my legs are higher. the seats are just to flat

From the what it's worth deparment.
My H3 has the leather power seats and I find them to be comfortable for long drives, however while it was in the shop for a month I had a loaner H3 with the regular cloth seats and I found them uncomfortable. I just could not get it adjusted to feel right. |
very true i have cloth seats, i have no problems with the seats in my wifes aviator(leather)
|
I have only made on long trip in the H3 (9 hours) and I had no back problems with my cloth seats.

Seats are my only bitch too.. but its because my driver seat is fraying (sp) after 7k on it. (looks all fuzzy where my rear end rests) And no my ass isnt THAT big
![]() I went to my salesman and we took it over to the service dept. The service manager says its "wear and tear". Not covered under warranty. I called bs as did my sales person. Unfortunately neither of us got anywhere. He suggested I call the 1-800 number. It just seems too soon for the seat to fray up from hopping in and out of the car. Anyone else see this happening? |
No problems with my seats so far, longest trip was 5 hours. Mine is a leather luxury package with power seats.

Over a period of time, almost any leather will start showing some cracks (not through the material), and the vinyl will too. However, if there is wear through the leather or vinyl, they should replace them. I had two driver seats covers replaced in my Vette. At almost 9K, mine show what I would consider normal wear. |
I find the seats to be very comfortable and I have the cloth. The longest drive I have taken so far is 2.5 hours. I'm heading out today for a six hour drive, that should be a good test for me.
Anybody want to lend me some gas money with these prices ![]() |
I've driven 4 hours at the most in my H3 and didn't have any problems with the seats. I have the cloth as well. I would agree that they are very "flat" seats so for some people it could cause an issue with the lower back. I know you tried the lumbar but did you try "inflating" it all the way?
|
I do have an Adventure with clothe seats. I make 5 1/2 hour trips twice a month and two weeks ago an 8 hour trip. I agree that most of the issues arise from the seats being too flat. It feels like riding in some imports. I have played with the lumbar, inflating and deflating, and even moving the seat back and forth, just no luck. I think the power leather may have had more options and is what I should have looked at.

You have the freedom to move the power seats around a bit more. The leather seems better than the average American car. Since I'm tall I wish you could adjust the stearing wheel up more.
I think the lux package is worth the expense. |
Mine are the cloth and the bottom is fraying.. looks kinda like the fuzzy half of velcro. I never wear anything that would catchin the cloth so it looks like a bad piece of cloth.
I just need to call hummer and bitch a little i think. |
well, 6 hours on the road today and I had no real complaints with the distance and the seats. My only realy complaints of course are the foot to floor action to keep her going up hills (allthough I was in the mountains so it is understandable) I think I just thought I was slow since I was in a "convoy" with a new Escalade .. just alittle more power than the H3, eh

My big asp loves the power leather seats...

I have the lux/leather and I was in them for well over 15 hours at the snow run (4 hrs there, wheeled all day, and 4 hrs back..in the same day) and this was the first car that I haven't had a problem with (previously owned audi and saab). With the proper adjustments the seats are incredibly comfy
|
OK, well it looks like I am just still "mostly broken" and that leather seats were the way to keep my back from hurting. I will be making two 4 hour trips and one 8 hour trip in the next month. Hopefully my TR8 will be up and running and I will be able to drive it (an honest 28 MPG in it). Interestingly enough, it is a 3.5 liter Aluminim V8 with the additions I have made it's output is now about 280 hp. Of course the entire car weighs 2200 lbs

Question! Can seat covers be used if you have the DVD headrests? Probably a stupid question but I've not seen any pics of the seat covers that actually show.
|
Just cut them open in the back...
|
I drive an hour and a half each way every day to and from work. My ASS is killing me when I get there and again on the way home. I do have the Lux/Leather and the heat on!! The seats are simply not plush enough for me. I also can feel the frame after a while on my lower back and ass...I am not a heavy person either...Maybe I should sit on a pillow...LMAO
