Hi gang, I am fairly new here. I have been lurking for awhile. I have seen some awesome pictures and it seems like you all have been enjoying them for the most part. I haven't layed down the down payment yet.

I am on call on nights and weekends (perk of being a newb OB/GYN), so I probably will not get to go on many off-road trips.

How is it on the road, I read about some slow acceleration and lack of power, but over all?

Thank you.

NEOCON1 04-07-2006 01:01 AM

they are great on road . people that are saying they are slow are coming from very offroad-uncapable rides . it is a trade , offroad ability or asphalt eating speed , acceleration and hummer is an oxy-moron . if you plan to mostly stay on highway get the base . smaller tires , softer suspension will give a very nice ride on pavement . but if you think you want to wheel in the future the adventure will take you beyond your wildest dreams

H3Prospect - you be the judge at some point. When it comes to road speed it's slow (0-60 in around 10 or 11 seconds, top speed 98 mph gives you an idea for comparison). Real offroad capability combined with acceptable gas mileage comes at a price.

I run a H3 luxury package 98% on pavement daily with light offroading and snow use sometimes. If you have driven sports cars then you can get used to putting your foot into it and keeping the revs up for acceleration. It's a modern DOHC 4 value motor not an old pushrod huge torqey V8 so it has to driven differently.

Test drive or rent one, just be careful backing up.

S.

I got the base, but wish I had ordered the adventure package. I haven't had any issues with lack of power in everyday driving situations.

Thanks guys. I have just been getting a lot of slack because everytime I mention it to people they say it is a known "gay" vehicle and since I'm single and don't have a lot of time to date- women. I just don't want any false stereotyping. Has anyone experienced that before?

No, Those guys are (sorry) IDOTS! I went around my work asking about the idea of an H3 (as just an open ended question) and 95% was possitive. That other person that was negative just said he did not understand why Hummer made something so small. Well, he has no idea either.

Seriously, it depends on the company. Many, Many offroad folks LOVE the Hummer H3 and just the whole concept.

These guys have not clue and are probably just jealous. I have never heard the H3 considered a "gay" vehicle. Sounds like it is time for new friends.

H3prospect  04-07-2006 12:36 PM

I will not be off-roading for a while. But yeah, I thought it was odd. You know, for a vehicle to be associated with a certain sexual orientation. But then again, it took me a while to figure out the whole rainbow thing.

If you are gay it is fine with me, I am not though. Not that it matters- I was just wondering.

x2 Your "Friends" are on crack or jealous. I have never heard this before, ever.

Enjoy your truck. I'm sure that its helped some of the single guys here get laid. Take advantage of that and enjoy. Live your life for you, not someone else.

With this for a profession you worry about people thinking you're gay?

Get the hummer. Get some. Put your knowledge of anatomy to good use. And when you finally get your "Hummer" dirty, you'll know why its the perfect truck.

People thinking you are "gay" will be the least of your problems if you get an H3. Its just an wanna-be chevy Colorado. Even shares the engine.

Because he said this:

I'm assuming that if Prospect says he wants to date women, by extension Prospect should be a guy... Or one would think!

I heart teh muffin

I have never heard "for gay" either. I think the hummers are too rugged for the gays.
