I've had my truck for only 2 weeks and managed to lose a key. I'm hoping it will show up. In the event it doesn't, does anyone know roughly what the replacement cost is?

Thanks.
Chris

Did you lose the remote with it also?

I think about $30.00 with the remote. Maybe more for re-programming.

Anyone know the sequence to re-program?

See I was right.

Wow...that's a lot. I've been going crazy looking for it. We've had quite a bit of rain here in the Northeast and my basement flooded on Friday. In all the chaos, I misplaced/lost my key with the remote. I have one, but I can't just go along with one. I'm going to tear the house apart looking for it. Fingers crossed.

just have one made up dude cost what maybe $3.00.These are not electronic keys that cost like $40.

Not sure but I don't think these keys are just that easy. If they are in the ignition and the battery is disconnected they won't come out.

I don't think they have a chip in them but I don't think they are $3.00 either.

cmeinck 10-17-2005 01:50 AM

Wow.. only $3? How about the alarm remote? Any ideas on that?

Thanks!
Chris

The dealer lost one of the remotes and key for our H3 and had to order a replacement; said it cost them $350. The pre-cut (from the VIN) replacement key wouldn't turn in the door lock, so I demanded a blank that I could have cut by a locksmith. Our saleman said just the blank cost $70. Don't know if I believe him on that one.

Hopefully they won't charge you to program your replacement, but they might.

Key is about $12 cut...if you want cheeper use a chevy blank its only $8 or so

the remote should be about $20 and you can get the programming info and do it yourself or see if they will charge you 2/10 of an hour of labor or so

that's a big relief. I thought was in for $350 plus. Funny thing is I just got a UPS shipment today with a new Hummer H3 keychain. What a bummer.

I'm going to call my dealer today.

cmeinck 10-17-2005 05:24 PM

Just got off the phone with my dealer. $47 for the key. Roughly $80-$100 for the remote and $45 for programming. My response was "wow, $200 for a replacement key". To which his response was, "Easy".

Every dealer deserves to make money, but ripping people off is stupid...I may be alittle off on my numbers, bt the key is no more then $15 and the remote no more than $30....NO mroe then that for sure!!!

I agree completely. They have to make money or they will not be in business to help you next time but damn, that is highway robbery IMO

Sewell in Plano gave me 2 extra keys upon my request at time of delivery, no charge. The process to program a remote to the vehicle is in the owners manuel.
