Don't know if this has been posted here before, but I tought it was kinda cool. I know the H3 finished last but when you read the article they gave it major props off-road.

The article was titled "Rock Hopper SUV's", not "Mall Princess SUV's". Hummer said the H3 would dominate off-road. The testers agreed. Quote:

If they got someone that knew how to drive the H3 and knew how to wheel, it would have came in first place.

On the otherhand.... I do agree with the article in so much as liking to see a turbo diesel in the '07 model! |
Yea the boy racers at C&D put too much emphasis on the high speed runs getting to/from the desert when doing the scoring.

I really wonder if half the people who review the H3 actually drive it.
I've only had my H3 for three weeks now but I can honestly say that it is 100% better on-road (alas I have not had the chance to take her offroad yet) than any of the reviews I have read give it credit for! |

i totally agree with this article. that red light comment they made is completely accurate, as well as the visibility issue, and shuffling caused by the large tires on road, as well as the pathetic power of the h3, and poor rear seat legroom. You guys might love your H3 but you know deep down that everything they said is true. i have had mine since june of last year and im pretty familiar with it and really enjoy it. but ill prolly sell it in 3 years and get the next cool thing. dont get me wrong i love my h3 but some of yous guyses replies are a little biased, and hiding the truth.

I read C&D monthly for its ROAD tests, not for its OFFROAD tests. Essentially they did overall scoring based on the criteria they use to judge sports cars, sports sedans, crossover SUV's.
Agreed H3 power is weak for high speed highway driving, visibility out the back is very bad and rear seat space tight. And the offroad tires do not have the crispness of low profile Z-rated $500 summer tires. C&D is so sports car oriented that they complain when a car has "all season" tires instead of "summer" tires. That's fine, I like sports cars too and own one. Obviously the H3 has certain significant highway weaknesses resulting from the offroad capabilities that were designed in. Not sure everybody is willing to put up with those weaknesses if they rarely offroad. I rarely offroad but I knew the H3 was biased towards offroad capabilites when I bought it and I accept the tradeoffs. BTW H2's suffer from the same tradeoffs. They are slow on the road and suck even more gas, look at the C&D tests for fun. S. |
I have only had my h3 for a few weeks now, but have spent each weekend since I have owned her out in the country enjoying the drive. I really do not find the hummer underpowered at all, its just preparing for hills and passing. I traded in my sporty civic Si for this truck and do not miss it for a second!

Green is great! I was surprised to read that they are not making the green in 2007? I guess that means our trucks are now just that much more special!
