Thanks sclui56 That answered tons of the questions I had!!!

Red,

Just thought I would mention that the 1/4" reinforcement for the 5th hole can be had at most hardware stores, 2x2" square, already has hole in center.

I have a couple galvanized 2"x2" squares left over from a deck I built with 1/4 " holes I was going to try one of those.

So, are the '05s suppose to have this 2" X 2" plate behind the rightmost hole on the right mounting bracket for the wheel holder?

Took my brackets off a while back and did not come across any plate. Just a fairly hefty washer.

thanks,

To save some money, I would try to see if you could find someone near you that has the factory rear mounted spare tire, and see if they would like to trade. Many people do not like the rear mounted spare tire.

Probably it has a non-removable threaded piece on the inside like the other 4 holes. It is only needed for the ones not equipped for the tire carrier as the rear bumper material is much thinner than the front.

I read the install that sclui56 did and it was easy (great instructions and photos)if I would have bought the bumper that was made for the tire holder I would not had to do any mods.drilling a hole and backing up the area with a 2"x"2 plate saved me around $150.00.I guess if I ever change my mind I can get a plastic plug for the hole...

Hummertech, I get my H2 serviced at Sewell in Dallas..whats your first name?

sclui56 08-15-2005 07:29 PM

red, I believe there's more to it than just the bumper, the L&R braces are also different, and possibly the L&R end caps, so it wasn't just the hole.

I recall checking that out before I went the cheaper route.

If you live in NRH, then why do you drive to Sewell in Dallas, wouldn't the Sewell Hummer in Plano be much closer? My name is John
