Depressing, isn't it?
They already rent H2s here in the Phx location.

If we are talking large amounts this will make the secondary market (resale) very cheap .....

Friguy 05-11-2005 03:17 PM

This could be considered one of the goodside badside things.

On the goodside if someone is concerned about the power of the H3 it will allow them to rent one for an "extended test drive" so that when they buy one they will be happy instead of regreting a purchase because of the limited exposure at the dealership.

When rental cars come off use, they will be marked up and sold to a wholesaler 1 or 200 at a time, who inturn marks them up again and sells them to a dealer, who then, you guessed it marks them up again and sells them to the consumer. We buy 5-10 previous rentals a month to sell. I dont think this will hurt the market, and to me the more exposure people get to the HUMMER brand, the better it is!

usetosellhummer 05-11-2005 03:38 PM

I will buy one this fall used for 24-26 that way.

Our dealership sells 200 camrys and corollas a month to rental car companys....we do guaranteed buy backs on half of them. the deal is they must have less than 30k miles and less than $1000 in damage disclosure when we get them back, then we cherry pick the nice ones and retail them...the edgier cars we send to the auction...when we send them to the auction in large quantities the values drop because the cars are easy to come by versus when there are only a few cars available.....I dont think it is a bad thing for HUMMER but the resale values will not hold this way because 1 year old cars will be plentiful...in example this type of deal has killed camry values...the book trade value on a 2004 of 15075 is no good when the rental car companies are selling them back to us for 13600-13900 in quantites that are more than we can use..but on the older models camrys and other cars that are not available from rental car companies they are worth more than trade book value...i dont think rental car companies will buy H3s in extremely large volume but this is also the case with 04 tahoe's,suburbans, and trailblazers coming off of rental usage...

Bought my comuter car a 2004 Aveo for 6,700 at auction. Was 11k new. Thats on a samll car with a small profit margin. Auction H2's are going for 33 now so I will wait till the rentals hit the auction. My old GM will sell to me at 500 over auction. It will be a good thing if you don't buy retail I guess.

So wats the big deal? hell, you can rent Ferraris and H1s here in Dallas. /shrug

firm 05-12-2005 08:30 AM

You can rent anything, but I'm afraid the major rental companies may turn the H3 into the Ford Explorer, or Mustang.

I hate to say it. But this H3 was produced to be like the trail Blazer, Ford explorer, nissan Pathfinder. Hummer is mass producing these! that's the whole point of this truck. But who cares. If you want a unique truck that isn't mass produced to the point where you see one every other block, you have to pony up the dough and go by an H1 or G Waggon. Like most of us here, i couldn't afford one even if I wanted one. Or cutomize your H3 so others don't have one like it. That's what I started to do with my SUT. And will do with the H3 too. If you are buying an H3, you should be buying one because you like the truck! ... regardless of how many will be on the road or who will be renting them out. My guess is that you are very excited about getting this truck and want it to be unique from the others on the road. It won't take much to do that. And I'm willing to bet that the aftermarket companies will go off the handle with this truck in the next six months. I know for a fact that Gobi has big plans for this truck..
so don't worry about having "just another H3," This ride is going to be sweet!!!!!

Tim youre so poetic...are you gay? whether its an H1 or an H3 a HUMMER is a HUMMER and it becomes what you make of it...Firm and others: put the time and effort in like many of us have and you will have a rig all your own....

Nope, not gay. But Your pink SUT rack that we are sending is going to look very much at home on your ride.

Not for nothing, but that famous Texan, Carol Shelby, made a deal with Hertz back in the sixties and created the GT350H. It is now a highly prized collector car.
