Just a followup to my earlier posting --
Things were apparently straightened out and I have my 6-digit H3 order number now. Thanks a bunch to those who posted replies, as well as Nancy at the Hummer (800)732-5493 number and my salesman and his manager at Jerry Seiner Hummer in Salt Lake County, Utah. It's great to be exchanging info and getting the latest info. Let's keep it up. How many H3 owners do you think we will have here participating in discussions by the end of the year? 20? Hopefully even more. When do you think the first "I got mine" posting will be? May 15th? Please post details and any pictures when convenient, everyone. |

I told you they are good people there at that dealership. Dallas is supose to have 8 nest week so I would say within 10 days someone will have one.
|
now you realize that we want lots of pictures when you get it, right?
|
Yes, OK on the pictures
and expected arrival in Dallas! Since posting I found out that the navigation system could not be put on the order at this early time. That's not too bad to me since I can use a handheld GPS, and what I'd really like to do is mount a laptop computer on a stand at least for when no passenger is present. I don't think I saw these options when I placed the order -- I'm going to see if they can be added by the dealer later: - transfer case protection - underbody protection - rocker panel protector - splash guards If not, that's not a huge deal but it would be great to have all the off-road equipment since I will be going off-road some. |
yah but woulden't dust kill a laptop computer over time?
|
Yes, maybe, but keyboards can be cleaned
or replaced, and some laptops have more rugged keyboards if that was really a problem. |

I would think it would be much less cumbersome than a laptop, more rugged, and easier to mount. Haven't they come down in price recently? H3wannabe |

H3wannabe, yes, portable GPS nav systems
are getting better and better, but if I mount a laptop computer then I can use it for other things too besides GPS navigation, like Internet access with one of the constantly evolving Internet access options. Verizon has awesome "BroadbandAccess" through cell phones in a few cities. I used it in Phoenix and actually saw 1Mbps downstream and 200Kbps upstream through the cell phone while driving down the road. Hopefully that system will be introduced in more and more cities soon. And, a MotoSat dome on the Hummer H3 would be totally sweet and provide for Internet access even in the middle of nowhere! http://www.motosat.com/ (A dome or directional moving dish antenna would look good on the roof of an H3, too, ha ha. http://www.motosat.com/products/internet_f3/index.html ) |
