Just thinking about it....anyone know of the cheapest 2" and or 4" lift kits for the H2 and how tough are they to install? I will be going to the 37 MT/R's when the BFG's wear out.

Rick,

I went with the 4" Rancho and have been happy with it.

The installation requires a little cutting and welding, so it is more difficult than most.

The 37's are almost too small for the 4" lift and I am thinking of going slightly larger.

I have photos of my complete install and am working on the technical write-up portion. I'll be glad to let you have all my notes if you decide to do it yourself.

As I thought....the a 4" lift might be too much for the 37"s (looks wise)...that'll push me to find a good 2" lift.

I'll get back to you if the 4" is what I eventually do.

I guess what you have does look pretty good but I think you have the BFG 37's X 13.00 X 17 which Phil says are 1" wider than the MT/R's. It still might not look as good with a 4" lift and the 37 MTR's.

I don't know of any 2" lifts...that's kinda why I posted.

You can always go a little bigger with a 9.5" lift and 39.5" tires.

Did you ever find a 2 inch lift? I think a small lift with 37's would be just about right. I like the looks of the Bear Claws. I think Micky Thompson make them.

Victoria Offroad sold a 2 inch lift kit for a while on eBay. It was just torsion bar keys although they tried to conceal that and charge 300 bucks! If you go that route, it kills the ride. NOT RECOMMENDED.

I'm waiting for the exact same solution you guys want - 2 inch lift running 37' XTerrains or The Baja Claws.

I wish the manufacturers would take notice and stop all this 9-20+ inch nonsense that can't even hold its alignment. Thats great for show trucks but worthless to me.

I'm still waiting for a suspension system that offers a substantial improvement in articulation without adding additional height.

I found this truck a while back. Its running King coil-overs that provide a 2 inch lift.

I forgot all about the stealth integrated winch they did. I like it too.

Does anyone know much about these King coilovers? Are they a good system, or a poor mans lift that cause problems down the road. I like the look very much.

Who is the owner of that truck? Maybe we could get some more info about the coil-over modification. If you have air bags in the back does that mean you would only need the shocks in the front, because the bags would level out the rear?

I have the 03 Lux without airbags and would be very interested in a 2" lift to increase offroad clearance without raising my center of gravity too much or sacrificing drivability since I use my H2 as my everyday ride. The coil over shock looks interesting. How might this affect the ride (street & offroad)? Where can you get them?

This truck was on an episode of Monster Garage. I found these pics in December of last year before anyone was doing H2 lifts. I called the shop (lost their name/number) who did the work and was told that the suspension offered dramatically improved articulation but at a cost of $4500! That price immediately turned me off. I haven't heard anything about a similar kit since. I wish I had kept their contact information. They were located in California as I recall.

Can anyone shed some light? Bueller? Anyone?

Do we not have any fabricators on this board? I'm gonna contact some old Land Rover buddies and see if they have any ideas. . .

I think Safari Gard, Rockware and the like should consider doing H2 stuff. There are 40,000 of us on the road and more on the way. We need some specialty fab shops in the game.

I am a custom fabricator but have not messed much with lifts. I spoke to the performance shop that did the lift on the white H2 in the NH White mountain happening and he said those shocks are about 500 a piece and just trying to lift the H2 with those alone will pose a potential risk on the half shafts. Now that I think about it that my be the reason there is not a good 2" lift available. He said the with the 4" lift they provide a spacer to keep the half shaft in it's proper location. Perhaps with a 2" there is not enough room to add a spacer yet far enough away to pose a problem??? I just got off the phone with the performance shop who seems to be very knowledgeable and he is going to get back to me shortly with any info on a 2" lift, or if there would be a way to achieve it.
