I live in an area that most stations are using RDS. My previous vehicle had RDS and I got artist/song title/station ID/and Genre info from most stations. My new H3 shows no RDS info at all. According to the manual it shoud. I asked the dealer about it and they acted like I did not know what I was talking about. Is anyone else out there recieving RDS info from FM stations in their H3? I really miss it. BTW is there way to get the XM info to scroll continously without constantly having to press the "DISP" button?

I don't believe that particular unit is a RDS radio. They usually have RDS enblazed on the face somewhere if they are

I have not seen anything that mentions RDS on the Monsoon though I don't have the manual to look at. My Mountaineer's factory system had RDS and I thought I would miss it when I upgraded the system. Now I almost primarily listen to XM so don't miss it at all.

I went back to the dealer agan and spoke to an expert. Get this, all radios in the H1 and H2 have RDS. None of the radios for the H3 have RDS. The manual refers to the nav radio that is not available yet. What's the deal?

So, WTH is the "info" button for?

According to the manual the "Info" button is display ID3 tag information when playing MP3 disks. But minw will not play MP3's. Is it supposed to?

I think they screwed up almost all vehicles made in the past 5 years have RDS!
|
you know, that really burns my biscuits! seriously though. I was like what the hey is this info button for. If the next year's models suddenly work, I feel like hummer should replace our stereos. Let alone I had to find out the hard way mine doesnt play mp3's either!

This came out of the manual too!!!! What the ?!!!
Navigation/Radio System Your vehicle may have a navigation radio system that includes Radio Data System (RDS) with Program Type (PTY) selections that will seek out the kind of music you want to listen to and XM™ Satellite Radio Service capabilities (if equipped). The radio can also communicate with the navigation system to broadcast announcements on traffic, weather, and emergency alert communications. For information on how to use this system, see the “Navigation System” manual. |

Look it even says RDS Radio!!!! I think I am going to bitch to GM!!! |
Is there anything we can do about this???
XM just started in Canada -- and I don't think my radio even has XM on the display... I see AM FM 1 and FM 2 -- I'm not sure if XM is not in the same display area. Can anyone clarify? And seriously -- this whole RDS and info button bites! Who's got the power to replace our stereos! |
As soon as my H3 arives, I'm pulling out the Monsoon stereo and replacing it with at computer. Info button fixed

"General Information So far the information is limited, but here is what we know so far:" Don't believe this is official GM information, just a compilation done by this website, and there are a few other "mistakes." Personally, I don't remember seeing anything that stated these radios were RDS compatible. Don't see it on the Hummer.com website, but it is early in the AM, and from my experience, couldn't say, I only listen to XM and/or CDs. As for MP3s, it is documented in the Hummer.com site which radio is capable of MP3 CDs. The INFO button is for MP3 radios and for XM messages. |
