I'm picking up my black H2 in March and struggling with whether to add on the wrap around grill or not. My decision is really based on appearance as protection for off road is really not a factor. (I've bought the thing to tow a 7000lb load to do fireworks and special effects work)
So weigh in everyone with your opinion, which do you think looks better, with or without?

I love the look of the wrap around brush guard on all colors of H2 except black.

Wrap Around. I was in a wreck and my wrap around held up in the accident.

Wrap around.

It looks better and helps you 'see' where the front end is.

I definitely wanted the brush guard. My decision was whether to get the standard or the extended wrap-around. The standard may look better on black.

I bet the chrome wrap around would look pretty good on black.

Oh yeah....you gotta have the brushguard. The H2 looks like something is missing without it.

make sure you look at the Stinger Mac Grill guard before purchasing factory!!!! www.sma.com

I ordered the non wrap-around style and didn't want the wrap-around style but the dealership screwed-up and installed it (sold it to me for the same price).
Now I REALLY like it's looks. VERRRRRY nice screw-up!!!

I have a Pewter H2, and not only do I like the looks of this brushguard, but if you're shorter like I am, Kim's answer was right on target. I can see the top of the guard, so it helps me park, and helps a TON offroad (in visibility, not protection.)

I'd go for it!

I've seen both.. I got standard on black, looked better I think. Look through the photo album, I think MAC has the standard on black. I havent had a problem judging distances and I am quite vertically challenged. Setting up fireworks is fun, was on a set up crew a couple of years ago.

Zing 12-12-2002 10:31 PM

Hey TS, are you and Mac related? (always throws me when I see your photo). I have had the same dilemma, but prefer the wraparound. However if you continue not to feel it in your gut, definitely get nothing and shop around in the aftermarket. Check out the new photo in the photoalbum. There's a dude with a very nice crome brush guard on his black H2, and I'm not a fan of chrome but liked how this looked on black. Personally I think the stock brush guard should be a bit heavier duty on the H2, and glimpses of the 2004 H2 I've seen have a heavier brush guard.

Bottom line, if your not sure, wait and shop around until you feel it (and save a few bucks in the process).

O.K., so I will be the lone dissenting vote. I like the front without the brush guard. In fact, the H2 I purchased had the brushguard, and as part of the deal the dealer removed it and credited the cost. One of the great things about the H2 is it can be anyway you want it--an expression of your own personal taste. Just my opinion.....

Texas Red 12-13-2002 12:13 AM

Point well taken, sbe. But I got the whole package knowing that I could change the look later if I want by removing the crossbars, brushguard and off-road lights. Definitely a cleaner (different) look.

SBE...one day, when you least suspect it...a bush is gonan jump out: you'll be sorry AND caught off your guard!

No prob, as they say, Viva La Differencia'

I like the brush guard for one reason and one reason only. FOR ME, the chrome grill is a bit much and a black brush guard breaks up the chrome and makes a nice look.

ARE YOU HIGH??????????????????

mpetrich 12-13-2002 01:28 PM

FWIW
I really like the look of the brush guard (black one on my Orange H2) AND it helps in protecting the vehicle. I was driving on a crowded highway in Chicago and a van dropped about a 2 feet by 3 feet piece of plywood on the highway. The wood "bounced" when it hit the ground and hit the left side of my brush guard. It turned it into about 1000 popsicle sticks but at least no damage to the car or the brush guard.
