Is Vortech the brand that you have to drill into the oil pan to keep the system lubed?
Thanks, Mark |
Yes,Vortech is one of the units that use its host engines oil system.

I have a brand new Vortech in the box--never openned that I will sell at a very good price--went with the Magnuson instead.

Thanks, I'll go back to Maggie. Mark |
Maggies have that instant boost that comes from a roots blower--best I have used on the street!
I can hardly drive a stock H2 anymore--they downshift too often from 4-3 on hills--drives me crazy. |

Even with 4.56 gears, THAT is the EXACT reason why I want the supercharger. I have had maggies in the past, I just came across a super deal on a vortech and wanted to see where it gets its lubrication from. I WILL NOT use a supercharger that gets its lube from the oil pan. Hate that idea... Mark |

That's how I felt too. That and the drilling a hole in the oil pan, but I've been running a Vortech S-Trim in my Mustang for about 8 years now on two different engines. First engine built on the stock block and producing a little over 500HP and now on a new DSS block custom heads, etc making a bit over 600HP (detuned from over 750HP to keep everything together for a little longer ![]() The roots style blowers do have that low end grunt you might want in a truck though... Search button would help on the roots vs. centrifical blower debate, but:
1-The Vortech is killer on a lighter, geared auto tranny/stick vehicle. The poking of the pan is no big deal...I have done it a bucnh of times without any problems. 2-The roots style blower is way better choice for a heavy, auto tranny,AWD/4WD vehicle. Makes boost much sooner. 3-3Rd otion is the turbo kits...althought not in high production, a good kit will make really good (the best?) power all the way around. Livernois has a Caddy kit that can be re-clocked to fit an H2. Expect a higher price for aquisition... |
