Here is the damage from this winter. The pitting has occured on almost all of the rims, going most of the way around. As far as I can tell, the rims have to be replaced, re-chromed, or I have to put some kind of coating over the places where there is corrosion, like nail polish or a laquer.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

View of more damage. It appears the big patches can be scraped away, leaving a little pit where the chrome coating is gone.

This is a before and after view of the rims. I used some wax to get them polished up.
Note: These pics are not the same rim as the one above. They have a little bit of the pitting, but I was able to scrape it away.

Here is my filler door, this being the replacement of the original. Notice how the chrome is bubbled up and flaking off.

Finally, just my nice rusty frame.

THAT looks pretty bad on the rims maybe try FLITZ with a mothers powerball that goes into a drill to polish u can get one at an auto parts store or online at autogeek.net for the frame they have tons of products that are suppose to melt the rust off but i never used so not sure how they work maybe do a rust search on here

Haha, well at least I'm not the only one. They still look good from a distance, but you get up close and it looks terrible. What is with the chrome parts? Is it a GM thing, or do all chrome parts tend to have similar issues?

Get some undercoat spray and paint your frame. Use some Rustoleum Rust Converter spray first, which is black, and spray everything that is rusting. Then use one of the many undercoating sprays and cover everything. Will take you about one hour.

It will look like new afterwards, or at least it will all be black. You just need to touch it up every time you go off-road, or every few months if you don't.

Do you just crawl underneath, or use a highlift? Mine's a leased vehicle, and I may or may not keep it at the end. Do you think they will mind the painting when I go to turn it back in? If I keep this car afterwards, I would probably look back and have wanted to coat everything now.

I had the same thing happen to all of my chrome rims. I brought it to the dealer, and they game me the new style 06 chrome rims under warrentee.

I just got done spraying under mine. Took me about 30 minutes. I didn't go crazy and crawl all under the truck, just hit mainly the exterior areas and some of the bottom of the frame. I don't care much about the parts I can't see.

Looks freakin gewd now. Can't wait to mess it up again.

Is there anything down there we shouldn't spray with all this stuff? Or is everything fair game?

It will burn off the exhaust and most hoses etc can deal with paint these days, I just try and avoid them. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I really lit everything up so the hoses are all covered, not so much on the exhaust but it's there.

I'm more concerned with how the hell I'm gonna get this stuff off my hands, I didn't think about wearing gloves. I've been picking at it for a few hours but it is very determined to live on my fingers.
