Anyone know the exact specs for our ADV series rims?
16" X 7.5"? Offset? What other dimensions do I need to look for new rims? |

Depends upon the tire you are fitting...

okay, I read all of the posts regarding bigger size tires, couldnt find the answer I am looking for, maybe someone can help. my H3 came with the offroad package except the tires that came with Goodyear 32s. (265/75)
I want to upgrade to 33s or 285s, I found BFG (285/75) and also found Mickey Thompson 33x12.5 and 33x11.5 (all for 16 inch rims) what is REALLY worrying me is the 7.5' rim width, I DONT want to change the OEM rims, but I am worried about the 7.5 width on 33s. bearing in mind that I do EXTENSIVE offroading mainly on soft sand and sometimes rocky hills. whille offroading on soft sands I usually air down to 5 PSI on my Chevy Blazer ZR2 with 31x10.5 BFG KO AT. I tried airing down to 15 PSI on my H3 it didnt work, I went further down to 10 PSI, some improvement but still not enough grip like the BFG, plus my H3 is heavier than my ZR2. if I air down more I am afriad the tire will come off the rim. so I decided to go for 33s, but I am confused about the 7.5 width. which 33 should I put and air down to 5 without loosing the tire off the rim while offroading. anyone has any experience with this on the H3. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR PIMPY STREET TIRES, my interest is offroad. SledgeHummer |
For the adventure package rims they are made to not loose the seal of the rim with low air pressure. Not sure how low but maybe 20 PSI I am guessing or lower.
The warning light for low air is just a new govt. thing. |
Beadlocks, beadlocks, beadlocks!

beadlocks would be my first choice if I wanted to change the rims, but I mentioned I want to retain the Hummer rims.

You could find some 15x10 or 16x10 beadlocks with 4.5" - 5" backspacing that would be very close to stock geometery.

Ok here are the pics. Just changed my tires today to 285/75R16 BFG. surprisingly I didnt even have to do wheel alignement, drove the truck to its limit speed 170Km/h and it was as steady as the OEM tires.
No backspacing,l OEM rims did very well, now all I need to do is test them offroad with air down to 5 PSI. One thing I didnt understand though, I installed the new tires and filled them to 35 PSI but when I'm driving, I still get the "low tire pressure" warning light and alert message !!! why is that ? any ideas ?? 16 x 7.5"
bolt patten 6@5.5" (or 139.7mm) offset +30mm Centerbore 100.6 (this is a problem with a lot of the wheels because most other GM vehicles that fit the 6@5.5" pattern have a center bore of 87 and these whells will not fit the H3, the centerbore is too small) |
