Finally gave in and am picking up a H2. Any advice on anything? I have the deal all set, with prices worked out.

Trading in a F350 crew cab dually with the diesel. I think im going to miss the diesel =(. But....ever try off-roading in a crew cab dually long bed?! The H2 should be much better =).

I think im going to have the dealer put the spare tire inside, since it causes issues with towing and I dont want to use an extension or have to worry about which trailers I have will clear the tire...

John--is the F-350 diesel traded or for sale?
The H2 is a poor tow vehicle as you already know---do you have an alternate for towing?????

Dug 02-27-2006 11:23 PM

My H2 tows sweet.

I am sure it does, but not like a Ford F-350 diesel dually. The Hummer 6.0 struggles to get out of its own way without a payload.

NICE get it dirty and send us some pics

johndjmix1 02-28-2006 03:25 AM

I only really tow light trailers, the one I tow regularly is a 2 place enclosed snowmobile trailer...so Im not too worried about that. But im sure that darn spare tire would drive me nuts if i left it over the hitch....

Cant wait to take it off road!

If I have the dealer take off the outside spare and put it inside, I assume there are different D rings that attach back in those holes? (Since the D-ring brackets are integrated into the spare mount)...

Just make sure you get the rear air option if you tow much. dealer talked me out of it and I am highly pissed because the first time I tried to get my boat oout of the driveway I wished I had the air option.

KenP 02-28-2006 04:02 AM

He only pulls "only really tow light trailers" so that should not be a problem.

The D-rings are different.

Where are you? There are probably members nearby that'll love to wheel with you.

We've had our H2 for about 10 months, and every time our family gets into it, it's a treat. Hope you have the same experience.

--John </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Yes, put the tire inside. If you tow a trailer the tire will have to swing out of the way, clearing the jack on the trailer, in order for you to get the back door open. (if it's an SUV) Definitely get the air option, it's awesome for load leveling.

You'll miss the diesel, but you're gonna LOVE the Hummer! Different cars for different reasons. Have fun and post pics!

Towing a little trailer like this, but enclosed?

Yes. Get a locking gas cap and don't think of supercharging it.
