I crawled under the H3 today to adjust the torsion bars but found that it looks completely different than my H2's. On the H2 it stuck out about an inch. This is right up against a steel plate.
For those of you who have, does this look right and if so, is it clockwise to lift the front? |

What the H2's look like. Also, on a Chevy forum I remember reading that the tire should be off the floor before cranking the torsion bar to lift the front end. Is that true?
when I asjusted teh torsion bars on my H2 it was to lower the front end so this process is new to me. |
Yes, thats the bolt. As to which way you turn it, I turned it the way I read on one of these posts and it lowered it. I ended up having to do it again. Also I only did it a total of 2 turns and the truck rides the same but appears more level. Definetly you have to raise the front tires off the ground 1st.
|
Can I ask which way did you finally turn it to level the front end? Did you get a new alignment afterwatds?

I made 2 clockwise turns on torsion bar bolt and it raised the front about an 1". I was hoping for some additional height but I'll take what I can get. I drove it for a while and didn't feel any differences. Below is the photo after the adjustment.

Is there any functional purpose in doing this? Or is it just for the look?
|
still looks racked... what about those leveling kits?
|
Here is some talk about that. I don't think anyone has tied it yet. Correct me if I'm wrong.

good link... but it doesnt specifically say if the level kit is bad or good.
It would be good if anyone who added the level kit to chime in and give their two cents. I was actually thinking of going the Rancho 4inch lift with 20inch wheels and toyo tires, kinda make my H3 look like this... ![]() but, someone put the same wheels on a stock suspension and it doesnt look bad... so i think i'll skip the lift... but was wondering about the level kit. ![]() |
hello
I turn the tornsion bar bolt two times, and it looks like nothing happen. For those who has done this before do you have ref point that we can compare the total high after the two turns? "I have the 33" OEM tires." |

I measured from the top of the tire to the top inside fender. I went 2-1/2 turns and it moved it up alittle over a inch. You want to measure before and after..
|
what was the before and after measuremts from the ground to the bottom of the inside fender?

This is where I measured from-- top of tire to inside fender well ,, I didnt measure from the ground. 6 inches approx,,before---7-1/4 after the way I remember with the old 33 Duelers on.
|
I made the 2 1/4 turn adjustment and I just measured from ground to bottom of fender lip and it's 37 1/4". Take it for ride and let in settle in then take your mesurement.
