87 R+M. That's all she needs and that's all she gets from me. 3000 miles no problemo.

It should run fine, what they call "Extra" gasoline is rated at 87 octane which should be perfect for the H2. I will be down there for 3 weeks next month on a road trip south of Puerto Vallarta. I will post info about my trip while I'm down there and when I get back. 42 hours of non-stop driving one way and probably a 3 day trip back and will spend about 2 weeks in Barra de Navidad (Christmas Island). I've made the trip before with no fuel problems in a Jeep.

my dealer said to NEVER put less than 89 octane in the hummer. any reason for this? is it tuned for higher octane?

The Owner's Manual says 87 Octane is all she needs. That's all I've used and I've gone over 3000 miles without one single ping!

Tell your dealer to read the manual or go back to selling shoes. Geeez, these guys are somethin' aren't they.

It's like Jiffy Lube telling everyone to change their oil every 3000 miles.

I've run all three octanes I can get here and settled on the 89, just runs better. I can't get the 94 but sure would pump a couple of tanks through if I could. About every 4th fill I burn premium. Just because! The old school says that High perfomance engines like high octane (they do), and the H2 has a performance engine. Each engine is different, so do the three tank test and decide for yourself which is better for you and your Rig. If it runs better and gets better MPG stick with that brand and octane. Just another humble opinion
