Slow leak from rim at tire bead ?
I have a slow leak(1lb a day) Its comming from rim at tire bead.
There is a small scuff near it . I thought maybee from off roading in Ga the tire slipped on the rim,but seems unlikely because I didnt air down and I dont see marks on tire from the wheel wieght. Any Ideas on how to seal it short of tire removal.(cant use fix a flat because of the sensors:( My rails are in and Im going have them replaced along with the jack on august 4th(waiting till august so I can get it inspected at the same time) I could have the dealer take care of it then but I have no time to bring it there before then. Maybee put in about 100lbs of air hit some speed bumps/curbs ect then airback down? Any Ideas would be helpfull:D  |

Re: Slow leak from rim at tire bead ?
I just talked to my brother he said to take tire off rim and inspect clean and remount.
He had an idea of airing down to 15 psi drive a bit then try it at 35psi. JB liquid weld   :D :D :D |
Re: Slow leak from rim at tire bead ?
I had a very small rock crammed into the bead that I could barely see. I aired down the tire til it was almost flat and used a small, flathead screwdriver and pryed it out. Then I aired the tire back up. Haven't had any problems since. I would suggest you do the same and at least inspect incase you have the same problem.

Mike E very good idea :D
I didnt see a rock or pebble so I improvised and let the air down to 5 psi, then sprayed with wd-40,then ran a old credit card in and along area of bead leaking and there was alot of grit dirt red georgia clay.I notched the corners of a credit card like a hook and ran it through several times and removed some red mud(I think 10 years from now I will still find red mud somewhere:eek: .I then drove down my driveway(200 feet) and back up with 5 psi in tires, aired up to 35 psi and checked for leak.It seems the bead is sealed and no leak:D Hopefully the TPS light wont go on in a few days,If it does I will have the dealer remount the tire on aug 4th. Mike Thanks for your imput This forums great In about 1 hour I got some very usable advice,My wife was suprised that I had an answer in a hour she thinks im addicted to this forum:rolleyes: My brother also thinks I know way to much about the H3:cool: |

Re: Slow leak from rim at tire bead ?
Cool! Glad it seemed to work!! I learned that trick from my H1 friends in my local club. These aluminum rims flex more than a steel rim and allow rocks/crud to wedge themselves in that bead area when you offroad. Not much you can do about it.
