Maybe my 1st problem
When stopped and shifting back and forth from neutral to drive, my truck shakes and makes a loud clunk. Doesn't sound like anything I'm used to hearing, I did a search and came up empty, anyone?

Re: Maybe my 1st problem
My first quess would be bad Ujoints. Is it a hollow clank or solid?

Probubly not Ujoints then. You'll have to wait for the experts.

Re: Maybe my 1st problem
check your motor mounts and drive-lines ( U-Joints ) , there should only be a light tink noise from slack in driveline . sounds like you may have something going on under there thats not normal :( i hope its not too major , hang in there hummer will get it fixed . you might crawl under and have wife or someone shift for you maybe you could isolate the area the noise is coming from .
keep us posted and good luck |

Loaner = a GM car. Won't be a Hummer in S. Cal. Good luck! Bummer to drive a sedan after having a Hummer.

I'll just bring my 12 foot ladder in on my roof rack and see what they say when I try to cram it into a loaner sedan. I used to do that with my chevy truck so they would give me a truck:D . Unless of course the sedan is a caddy:rolleyes: . Then no complaints |
Re: Maybe my 1st problem
The noise could be caused by the clearance (lash) between some of the gears. It can be more pronounced in 4x4 systems due to more parts in the drivetrain.
However, the rough idle doesn't fit in, and may be a complete different problem.:D |
Re: Maybe my 1st problem
UPDATE.. all they said was "that doesn't sound good". In and out, 15 minutes with a brand new '07 CTS to drive. No complaints. Hope they find the problem soon though:confused:

I don't know ... there's enough clearance under there. Just tell her to keep it under 30, and you should be okay ;) |
Re: Maybe my 1st problem
A clunk? Motor Mounts or a Tranny Mount would be my guess
A Clink I would say U-Joints Been on lots of rough wash board roads? The low range puts lots of torque on the whole system. I have had a t-case mount go in a Jeep ane the engine torque would cause the t-case to hit the cross member. Fixed that with a piece of wood and duct tape untill I got a polyethylene bushing. |

No call yet??? I kinda like the CTS with the tiptronic transmission though. Kinda sporty and very fast.
