Full HID conversion complete

4 Attachment(s)
i've spent the last 2 weekends swapping the front headlamps and drl's with HID's. For the front i used the kit by ACA (purchased here from Jason). I chose this kit since it includes the projection lens for that pinpoint light effect. The kit is a piece of cake to install and takes about 2 hours.

I was originally using LED bulbs for the DRL's, but they kept burning out. PIAA makes a great kit that replaces the whole DRL. The kit includes the lens, HID bulb, igniter, ballast, relay, and switch. This kit took about 4 hours to install since there is more modifications needed to make them fit. Instructions are detailed here: http://thehummerclubinc.com/~thehumme/abouttheclub/articles/PIAAh2/PIAAh2.htm

Installing the PIAA kit eliminates the need for a jumper wire (in the fusebox) for the DRL's since you are creating a whole new circuit. You can turn them on/off as you choose.

The pictures with them on do not do any justice. There is no substitute for HID's and i always notice vehicles that have them. I am sure to get noticed more since there are 4 hid's illuminating the road. :D

Those look great! I just don't like the PIAA switch. Nonetheless, they do look cool

Hey blinger. Get a night picture.

They do look nice except, as KenP says, that PIAA switch.

I understand.;) It's the switch itself I don't like. It doesn't look like it could be mounted with the cable hidden.

Get one of the Hella switches. THey are flush mount and look factory once you install them. They mount nice on the left AC pod.

Is the head light chrome or black? Looks great. Are those PIAA $1000?

Is there a way to aim the light (the PIAA) once it's installed?

It looks like a Japanese Robot with those HID's as it's eyes :giggling:

Personally I don't like the look of the reflectors and bubble dome light covers, to each his own.

Cool! Looks really nice. Maybe you could find a button to mount the PIAA switch flush over below the rear wiper controls.
