Explain what a troll and an AE is please?
 

Ok I see people getting flagged as a troll or AE, please explain the difference so that I may keep an eye ;) out for them. While I'm on the subject what is a HOABie....just curious. These acronyms seem to be rampent around here.:D

Good question Yat. You need to be aware of the vast number of people that get on this forum just to post a bunch of useless crap and hassle people. AE stands for "Alter Ego". It refers to a 2nd, 3rd, 4th ID created by the same person. Often, the person uses the AE id to post stuff he/she would not ordinarily say with his own "real" ID. A troll is just some dipsh*t that logs on with a primary ID and whose sole intent is to just cause trouble. You'll often find people from other automotive forums log in to harass Hummer owners here, ie. "Jeep trolls".

Now, I won't list out all of the AEs and trolls here. But here's a few to watch out for:

Trolls: ShaggyX, Mooncricket, JeepChick, h2co-pilot, Paragon, CO Hummer
AEs: DRTYFN, KenP, DennisAJC, Jason

Okay...

A TROLL is a jerk from another forum that logs on here with the sole intent to cause trouble

An AE is typically a jerk/coward from this forum that creates an Alter Ego to log on as so that he can cause trouble but people won't know its him (or her). As I understand it many of the AE's on this forum can be traced to a single IP address. :rolleyes:

OBTW, I know who the owner of the Connie_Chung AE is. Thats why I say "typically" above. From what I understand this AE's owner is a pretty good person.

Could you be any more direct in asking AEs to f*ck with you? Why not just pour gasoline on yourself and light it?:rolleyes:

I did a story on AE's about 6 months ago and used this forum as an example of how AE's can work well in a community setting, most of the time. There are those that are bad apples and I interviewed a few of them for the story.

Personally, I do not care for AE's. Especially the news crew not to include Connie because I had her once. She said I was better than Maury.
