First trail in the new rig!!!

The plan was to head down Hwy 285 from Denver and run Webster Pass or Red Cone, depending on the weather.

It was raining when I picked up my nephew Andrew, but we decided to go anyway cause you never know what it's like in the mountains. We always say if you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes. Sure enough, we had blue skies at the trailhead.

The rain came in hard and fast, mixed with hail and sleet. The outside temp was dropping fast too (into the high 30s). We waited a few minutes till the hail stopped and then went on our way

Still have a ways to go yet before red cone. First we have to follow this ridge at about 12,000 ft

Looking southwest, Red Cone (far right) and Webster Pass trail on the opposite mountain (with all the switchbacks).

Clouds are moving in again, let's hit it.

Uh, excuse me miss ... I didn't order the pea soup.

This was pretty scary. You're riding down a ridge that falls off hundreds of feet on one side and a thousand feet on the other. Now let's do it in the rain during a whiteout :D

Luckily there's more gravel than mud or clay up here or it would have been all over. Still, the gravel is really thick in places and your tires sink right into it.
