Rancho shocks stock height
 

Thinking about installing Rancho 9000 shocks. Has anyone had any experience with them?

:iagree: It's been said by others here ( and I agree 100%) that it should have been the first Mod Made. The difference is remarkable. + it's nice to have options with regard to adapting the ride to match the terrain.

Phil, I noticed the Rod Hall Shocks sold by Hummer are also High Pressure for the rear shocks. It almost seems this might be a requirement to meet the load carrying capacity for the rear suspension.

All monotube shocks are high pressure charged. It has nothing to do with the vehicle. It has to do with keeping the oil in suspension and not foaming up.

Some shock manufacturers feel that monotube design removes heat better, but it will also lead to oil foaming if the pressure applied to the oil is not high enough to keep it in suspension.

Monroe/Rancho claim they are the manufacturer for the OEM Hummer shocks and they are 285psi and they consider them 300psi (rounded the number off)

Yeah, the pressures vary greatly and are different for each vehicle. Apparently when they designed the coil sprung rear on the H2, they designed it with a very high pressure gas charged shock that offers some "lift."

Apparently, aftermarket shock makers don't know what charge to have either. Just because a shock says it's high pressure charged doesn't mean it is charged correctly for the sprung H2 because all monotube shocks are charged.

There are pros and cons to monotubes vs. multitubes. Multitubes will not be high pressure charged though and will not offer the "lift" like was designed into the rear of the H2. Many of the off-road shocks are multi-tube design.

GREAT SHOCKS!

Now, on my 06 H2 SUV, I put the Ranchos on and noticed no difference in ride height in the rear. This truck seems to sit higher in the rear than any of my previous H2's with air susp. or the springs. This one has springs and sits very level (no sag). The SUT I had was also riding on Rancho 9000's and had springs, that one did sag in the rear before and after the shock change. :confused: So I can only assume that there are different runs on the springs and that spring height wil vary?? Regardless of shocks?
