Re: what 's the correct air pressure when doing it on sand, on highway, and on offroa

I'm still experimenting with tire pressure myself, but this is what I've tried with the stock tires so far. On road, 40 psi was pretty stiff on denver's cracked pavement, but 35 rides much nicer. 25 psi gave me plenty of traction on dirt and gravel going up red cone, but 20 did much better on rocks during my last trip. I may try 18 psi next trip and see how it goes. Haven't run any sand yet.

i run 38 on pavement , it is a rougher ride :jump: .

sand and offroad , i go down to 15-18 psi and have not had any problems :D you get great traction at 15 :beerchug:

sand:10-12 , dirt/ gravel:20-25 (if you really feel like airing down), road/freeway:30-35 (if you want the smoothest ride),40 (if you want the best mpg) ,I tried 41 for a week or so, screw the mpg!

dude, there is a lot of air coming out from the tire, we are talking about from 40 psi, and air down to 15 to 20.....would that hold a 5000 lb machine ??

The tire guys put 45 psi in my new tires and the mpg did increase, barely, but the ass ache wasn't worth it. Dropped to 36 and its perfect. Haven't done any trails that required 18psi, YET! But @ 36, the last trail I did do I should have dropped to 25, but no slippage, just a little rough and had to go a little slower to make sure I didn't blow one out.

I keep 35 lbs in all the time.
at the beach or offroading I go down to 18lbs with tire deflators.
Sometimes I hit a trail without airing down at all  .
I hit some trails in Ga and had some slipping without airing down.
Stupid of me because we were the only ones there and I have onboard air and deflaters .:twak:
Anything more than a light dirt trail = airdown, better safe than sorry
