Ball Drop
Hey just looking for a little advice on a hitch. What is the average drop that ya'll are using for your ball mount on your hitch? I was told with an H2 you need a 6" drop is that true. Thanks for the help.

Re: Ball Drop
I a runing a 6" drop hich for my quad trailer. I do also have a 4" drop hich, but my trailer was to high in the front for my liking. The 6" is better.

Re: Ball Drop
Thanks, I'm pulling a 24 foot Robalo and it's a pretty heavy boat, I just didn't know if that was going to be to low. I do have the air ride, I guess it sags a little. Thanks again for the reply.

Re: Ball Drop
It totally depends on the trailer. My boat, I use a 4" drop, and on my car carrier I use a straight hitch to maximize strength for towing over the limit. Also the air susp. helps level it out if you have it.

X2. I'm borrowing a utility trailer that won't sit level with a 6" drop. My guess is that an 8" drop might be about right. And I just bought a boat where a 6" drop is just right for a level ride. The gap between the ball lock lever and the spare tire is 0" with the 6" drop though. So without relocating my spare off the back, there's no way I could really use a 4" drop hitch or shorter. BTW, I have no air suspension in back. |

Misleading title to this thread. I thought it was about Dennis' dog.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the help and input ya'll gave me. I did get the 6" drop and it worked great. Not to mention I ended up with a nice mess of Red Snapper on my fishing trip.

Re: Ball Drop
I got it from Suprmeme Mufflers in Metairie, La. It is solid Billet Aluminum. I don't know if it actually the alumastinger or whatever you said. I'm not that familair with them.

Re: Ball Drop
We launched out of Fourchon. Went about 18 miles off shore. We did get the sh*t kicked out of us though. Seas were about 4 yo 5 feet.

Re: Ball Drop
I've fished out of Venice numerous times since the storm. Things were awfully bad down there but the fishing has been incredible since Katrina. We fished out of the "Jump" last December, which is five minutes from the launch. We had 125 trout and 25 redfish by 11:00am. The Marina is up and running with live bait and ice. The River has been so low this year, this winter is going to be out of sight. Fishing out of Myrtle Grove tomorrow for some trout and redfish. Next week hopefully weather permitting, it's offshore back for the tuna and red snapper.

Sh*t, thats rule number one in our boats. Boat cannot leave the launch without proper refreshments on board.
