Anyone give up their truck for an H3?

I?ve had an F150 for the past 6.5 years and within the next week or so will have my ?07 H3 (it's on a train). Over the past couple of weeks I?ve been cleaning up the yard, running errands and using the truck for honey-dos and such that I will not be able to with the Hummer. I really have not used the bed much over the years; not a work truck and I don?t tow anything, just the occasional trip to Home Depot and the dump. But it?s been convenient and useful at times.

I know this is entirely dependant on the individual?s uses but one of my concerns in having the Hummer is loss of cargo ability. I think I can manage. Anyone else have a similar situation?

You'll adapt and get by. You have to, you already bought it, right?

No, I put $500. deposit and ordered. It's in tranist now. Regardless, I love the Hummer so I wouldn't reconsider my decision. Maybe just rent a trailer or borrow my Dad's truck if I need to.

Yeah, I traded in my pickup for the H3. There are definitely times that I miss having the bed to haul stuff around. But I'd do it over again in a heartbeat.

Just remember to always have a friend or family member with a pickup you can borrow. ;) :D

I gave up my custom Silverado 4wd and had the same concerns as you but it hasn't been a big issue. I have a couple of trailers if I need to haul stuff. And now with my Gobi rack on the way I can just throw it on the roof. :D

Ditch the old pickup and get a utility trailer for the rare trip to dump and home depot. Just a thought.

Got rid of my F-150 Heritage. The deck, gazebo, arbers, metal fence post, outdoor grill and counteretop are done. Got tired of my wife putting the groseries in the cab and having to put her feet on the dash. She loves it and I even let her drive - sometimes. :)

I gave up a 02 Ford F-150 Supercrew 4X4 for my H3. I plan on getting a 6X8 trailer for those times I need something from Lowes or to take the lawn tractor in for service. Love the H3.

Sold my 04 murano (not realy a truck)
I have put several 12 foot 1x6 inch decking on the roof with no trouble.

Anything to big or heavy I borrow my mother in laws p/u truck or rent the home depot truck for $19.99 for 90 minutes.

Re: Anyone give up their truck for an H3?

I have a pick-up (rarely used) and an H3 (used much) that I bought after trading in my Explorer Sport. Hands down - best 4x4 ride I have had. I haven't had a moment yet that I couldn't carry the cargo I needed to in the H3 - this has included two 55 gallon drums with room to boot and I am sure I could have placed a third one in there with a little bit of placement engineering.

If you have the room and the extra cash, may I suggest a cargo trailer similar to what Home Depot or Gander Mt. sells. They are relatively inexpensive (under $1,000 I believe) and would serve 99% of your hauling needs should your needs require above and beyond what the H3 can haul. Also, Home Depot and Lowe's rent trucks for relatively heavy duty if the need arises. Something like $19.99 per 75 minutes or so as Fourfourto suggested.

I would have bought a trailer this myself but I really don't have the room to park one right now.

You've got a Gander Mt. near you? How are they? There is one opening up in a couple of weeks about two blocks from here. Looking forward to checking that place out:dancingbanana:

Re: Anyone give up their truck for an H3?

Yes, like five minutes from me. I love it and do business there quite frequently - likely more than I should be :D They are very well rounded and dependent upon your outdoor hobby, they should have you covered. Most prices are reasonable. I recently bought a case of ammo and the cost was less than online distributors as I didn't have to pay the shipping (an extra $50). I have also bought much fishing gear, bait, and a Benelli shotgun there with no complaints

:D

Curious - where are you?

Chris
