HELP, need to replace one of my 3's

Well I tried...

BUT

Mom & her H-3 are not a good match. At 81 years young and 5 foot tall it seems that shes not happy, its a little to bulky for her plus the inside headroom is really not enought for her Great Danes.

SO

(please forgive me) Does anyone have any experience with the Honda Element? She wants a BOXY vehicle (NOT A SCION B) not to big but tall inside(for the dogs), something more in line for a short 81 year old granmother with 2 Great Danes. Any ideas on another vehicle besides the Element?

Any GOOD ideas would be appreicated (please leave your wise ass answers off this one).

Thanks in advance...

How about this one, if you're looking for some head room...

Thanks,

Gona look at the Element group site...

Land Rover has one of the WORST defect and repair records out there. Did a lot of checking, plus the price is a bit high...

Maybe something like the upcoming Saturn Outlook would be a good match? Perhaps a bit too big, maybe too long to wait.

Re: HELP, need to replace one of my 3's

I traded my Element for the Hummer.

To be quite honest, it is a much better vehicle than the H3 for town use.

Bigger headroom, more usable space, utilitarian design, enough pockets and compartments to loose your wallet, and enough power for driving around town and a bit of dirtroads.

The only thing is that the ground clearance may be too high for you granny. My mom is 5ft. tall and she had a harder time getting in and out of the Element than the H3. I guess I have the sidesteps on my H3 so she found it easier to get in and out off. Perhaps with the sidestep on the Element it will work be for granny.

Element is a bang for the buck, you can't go wrong with a Honda. Never had any recall on it...Nada...worked perfectly for 3 years, and a little better gas mileage than the H3.

The H3 however, looks alot meaner on the road, and performs awesome off-road from stock!

New guy in Miami with Great Danes
Hi all,

I own 2 of the BEST vehicle in the world, the HUMMER H-3

BUT

Have one problem. My Mom is 81 years young and 5 foot tall, seems now she says its just to BIG. She wants another BOXY vehicle but NOT a Scion B plus she can't carry her (2) Great Danes with her. No matter how GREAT the H-3 is the headroom is just to short...

So I have looked at the Element, know its quality, etc...

The question is: ANYONE out there have Great Danes they carry in their Element? She wants to be able to take them to the Vet, visit friends, go to the park, etc...

Also I know the little pitfalls of the H-3 but still love it. Just what little pitfalls are there in the Element?

Also what reports can you offer on Honda South in the SW section of Miami and on Largo Honda in the Keys? or any other SOUTH MIAMI Dealer.

From what I read I should be able to buy at Factory Invoice, which is fair, CORRECT???

I think I'm looking at a EX 4WD w/auto tranny. Would love to see some engine options but I guess there are none for the Element

Any and all legit help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

PE

And have gotten ZERO, ZELCH, NADA replys so far.

Thanks for your suggestion. It seems there not as friendy and helpful as we are on the H-3 side

I don't know that I'd recommend the Element. It has a higher injury rating that most vehicles in it's class if you're concerned about that. What about a Ford Freestyle? Or a Volvo XC90? Lexus GX 470? Those all have low injury ratings, and are considered very safe. The Lexus is kinda boxy looking. You could get a nice used one. Or maybe even a used LR3? They're very nice, and the bugs are supposed to have been cleared by a software reprogramming.

I used the IIHS information located here.

Or you could just keep the H3 and tell the Danes to lay down! :jump:

Give them a chance. It is Sunday and I guess they're all ashamed of themselves for having Elements anyway. Especially when you go in there basically telling them you're going to DOWNGRADE.:giggling:

Get mom one of these.:giggling: Plenty of headroom, sort of boxy, kinda', and easy to get into and out of.

I know this is a reach, but, do you think that maybe the above line is what is preventing them from responding?:giggling:

The Honda Element is undoubtedly the most affordable of all the vehicle choices mentioned. More headroom than the Scion, too. Believe it or not, I HAVE seen someone driving here with one Great Dane in their Element. He/she didn't look uncomfortable. Does the back seat fold down? Perhaps two Danes could be comfortable with the seat folded down. There is an elderly man in our neighborhood who drives around with his elderly Great Dane, Elvis, in his older model Honda Accord. Elvis looks happy in even that .. so an Element should be perfect. If your mom is 81, she's not going to want to be looking into something expensive or want to be taking something into service frequently (Discovery  ). She needs something dependable. Good luck.;)

Saturn VUE, V6...that's the Honda engine with the Honda 5-speed auto trans. Fold down the rear seat and the danes will fit. You can also use a GMID on the Saturn VUE, and the 2007 now comes with a 5 yr/100K powertrain warranty.
