Dates of Manufacture to track problems

I thought it might be useful if anyone has had any problems to list the Date of Manufacture as it appears on the vehicle label located on the Driver's side door frame.

Just so folks can gage where their truck falls in line and if they should expect similar symptoms.

For example, (this is not true) if there was a problem with the headlights, and the truck was built in 11/05, folks with these trucks could monitor to determine if they have this same flaw.

Just a thought.

I have two stickers on my truck. I assume you mean the one with MFG by General Motors Corporation at the top and has a date in the upper right hand corner. Mine shows 03/06.

You found it alright. 03/06? Same as mine. 281,000 to 282,000 level. Those #'s are the first three of the last six in your vin.

Re: Dates of Manufacture to track problems

Even though there can be a correlation between build dates and possible problem with components or actual assembly, it can cause some unneeded grief to some people.
Example, since my vehicle is an early build, it could have the rear axle lapping compound problem, cylinder head issue, loose taillight issue, etc. However, after 17K, it has none of these problems.
Similar to a technical bulletin. They are issued to inform the field that a problem could exist on certain vehicles, sometime even within a VIN range, but it does not imply that every vehicle in that range will have the problem.
Just my two-cents on the issue.
Besides, who will keep up the data base or build dates, versus possible problems?

My build date on the upper right hand corner of the door sticker has either rubbed off or worn off somehow. :crying: Is it located somewheres else also? I think I recall a 7/05 build date for mine.

if you guys really want such a database, i could create one and manage it. You can post issues with your MFDs and ill put them in, when somone wants the data i could send it to them, or we can host the DB online. No big deal.

First month of the New Model Year. June is New Model year month, and yours is the very first month of the '07 model year.

Congrats, and enjoy.

Just remember, that is not true for all GM cars and/or trucks...
Many new model startups start the second week in July due to the 4th shutdown giving skilled trades the time to set up for a new model year. Some new models start up anytime after Jan1.:D

The GM Service Link is a good place to see recall/maintenace issues.

https://www.mygmlink.com/

The NTSB has this available, just complete year, make, model.

Re: Dates of Manufacture to track problems

Hate to say it, but the GM service link sucks. Info is old, and not updated regularly, and half the time you have problems entering VINs. It would not allow me to enter my VIN either.

So far, I believe I have posted all "published" bulletins for the H3 that actually pertain to the H3. (There was a general bulletin issued about side mount battery cables that did not affect the H3, but was issued for the H3.) I guess I should check and see if I missed one or two.

You never said anything about the loose tail light....

My PS tailight fell off a couple of weeks ago when one of my friends touched it.....well ok he leaned on the guard....and just fell off.

I had the same problem with both my gm vehicles. It wouldnt accept my VINs. All you have to do is shoot them an email and they'll have it sent up for you. real quick and easy.
