Someone needs to make or look into this:

An adapter/mount we can use to place the anchor location on the rear spare tire bolts to hold a external 5gal gas can on the left side of the spare tire.

Like this but flush to the left of the spare tire against the back door.

that's adding almost fifty pounds to the hinges, bolts and frame (door and pillar), I would be careful. seen Jeeps where people have exceeded the weight limit on a Jeep rear swing door, and it is not pretty.
(Gallon of gasoline = 8.66 lbs x 5 = 42.75 + weight of tank ?)

Bah! 5 gal of gas is nothing compared to a Gobi ladder and a 250lb man climbing up and down pulling on the hinges =)

usually people use the ladder w/door closed, but open door w/fuel can(s) attached
just remember, there is a max weight for the door 1 for door open, one for door closed

GOBI has this for the racks but not the door.

I've also given some thought as to where to put a 5 gallon can of gasonline. I wish they should've put an extra tank of gas, maybe not as big so as not to add to much weight to the vehicle. An H2, especially would've benefited more from this due to its low mpg's.

You could always pull a small trailer with several cans when off roading
