OEM roof mounted off road lights GLARE
 

For those that have the roof mounted off road lights...

Because they are positioned so far forward, when in use the glare that comes down on the windshield almost cancels out the effectiveness of the lights.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there an easy solution?

I thought an exterior aftermarket sun visor above the front glass would work and might look good, but I have not found a suitable product.

Any other ideas?

devise a simple small plastic deflector at the bottom of the light.

Hold your fingers up, right up at the light, to see how much of the light you would need to block.

You might could simply have the reverse of a hood on the bottom. that only stuck out an inch or two.

Or dump the lights and get some real ones and move them back away from the edge of the roofline where they should be.;)

I have the OEM roof lights and really like them, wish i had done the sun roof instead.. but I have very little glare, but lots of wind noise, sounds like the windshield is ready to blow in when I get up to speed. Plenty bright. I am looking for some for on the brush guard now connected to an oem light switch

I have both the off road lights and the sunroof. I have had no issues with noise nor glare. I mean, I can tell they are on but the glare didn't really bother my driving ability. Perhaps there is a way to reposition them? Otherwise, I think the shields are a good idea - but for $35, you could likely get away with cutting apart two aluminum cans, and forming the shields from them. You could always mount theshields to the light base with velcro.

Regardless, I have often wondered about the moon / sun visor myself and it would look....

Very strange that I have lots of glare but no wind noise. Is it possible that the light bars are positioned forward or back slightly depending on who instaled them and that causes one problem or the other, or has GM simply changed the design 2 or 3 times already?

Thanks for the ideas on glare shields I'll have to come up with something that will stay in place, yet be removable and not look like trash.

On my first H3, I had the roof lights and the sunroof - with no wind noise.

The lights did shine down - It reminded me of those sci-fi movies with glaring lights in front of the window on mini-subs.

Kinda an old thread but just having an eyebrow of window tint put on your windshild down to the rearview mirror should do the trick.

I've got four PIAA's mounted on a GOBI full size rack. These lights are pretty far forward but the glare is cut down by the wind deflector. I do get a hellva' lot of glare off the hood though. One of these days I'm gonna have one too many beers and black out the hood. :beerchug:
