Well considering the UAW workers get about 90% of their pay guaranteed during a layoff along with full benefits, I doubt they care much.

My buddy who works at Fairfax LOVES shutdowns and layoffs, he goes into full home improvement mode whenever he has the chance.

It would be nice if it was possible to scale the factory to produce another vehicle, be it a Hummer or something else. I imagine H2 sales will never pick up again, even after a significant redesign, unless they start getting over 22MPG. So, eventually, they're going to have to run something else through there, or face bigger layoffs or closures. I don't think GM is going to continue to play nicely.

I imagine, if built HD enough, there would be a ton of these being used for towing large trailers and pehaps smaller goosenecks. The horse show crowd would really buy them! They spend A LOT on trucks.

FWIW:popcorn: : Believe they were referring only to the hourly (UAW) workforce. As I recall the high water mark for ALL AMG H2 Plant employees (salary + hourly) was 1170 back in mid-2002. That figure does not include rent-a-people and GM paid personnel assigned to the H2 Plant.
