Problem Saturn's had. If a door panel was not replaced correctly it could bind against another panel under a different ambient temp. Also, when cold gives, the caps appear too large.

As most fenders do not contribute to the safety of vehicle occupants, this makes a lot of sense - especially for fuel economy and corrosion avoidance.
