H2 and 40's ?
if i want to goto a 40" tire would i have to goto a 8" lift? like this one?
or can i get away with the fabtech 6" lift? or is there just no room for 40's? |

I run 38x15.5 on stock suspension and get a little rubbing in full turn, not anything going down the road, and we had some massive flooding back in July and all roads were (some still are) rough as hell and I never rubbed on them. Some people here thought they wouldn't fit or would tear my chit up, but they were mistaken. I'm debating on a lift though, but I do not know how bad it will effect the center of gravity, I've rolled a bull dozer and a skidder over and do not want to add the hummer to the list |

I think width GREATLY matters here. I am running a 38x15.50 with a 20x12 inch wide wheel and it barely rubs at full lock (on flat ground) on the inner fender liner but it does rub. I am running the 6" Fabtech.

unless you do rock crawling it won't tear your chit up, mine run just fine, even offroad, I have 4000 miles on them(less than 200 in a city). So like I said earlier 38x15.5 fit and run just fine on a stock hummer, I don't assume I know.

With the 6" and 40's you're going to mangle your wheel wells. Period. Those of us with 38's already do it. Unless you're not going to wheel the truck....

I am with Phil on the tire width. I won't go over 13.5" on tire width as it is havok on the Ol' steering components - even on pavement...

Obviously I've got your setup but when I installed my lift, I did crank the torsion bars up about an inch and a half to level the truck out. I have the same setup as PhilD, 6" lift with 38x15.50x18's. They rub depending on how hard core you get. But as you can see everyone has there own opinion.
As I was scrolling through all these posts, I was seeing who the true hard core drivers were! |
