Re: Torsion Bar Question?

IMHO - have a garage that specializes in computerized alignments do they job. Mine had to be adjusted at all four corners due to what the garage said was a crappy factory alignment (nope - no charge for the latter either, only the torsion bar adjustment).

Regardless, there are many posts here that already show the adjustment. Do a search for "torsion bars" and it should lead you to the requested information.

BTW - the adjustment only set me back $50.

The tire place that did mine charged $10 for the torsion turning and $40 for the alignment - so we spent the same :)

Re: Torsion Bar Question?

You can turn the torsion bars VERY easily---and it is FREE--then if you have under 12K miles, the dealer service will align it for FREE!!!

The front bar adjustments are located roughly under the divider between the front and rear doors--it is a bolt that is 1 1/8th inch. Measure from ground to bottom of fender BEFORE turning, then jack it up, turn CLOCKWISE the number of turns you want, then set down--remeasure.

I turned my Drivers front 3.5 turns and the passenger Front 2.5 turns and it looks REAL good now--drives the same and all--I am taking it in for alignment later in the week and for some other minor things. Took all of 20 minutes.

What's your opinion of the ride since adjusting?

Re: Torsion Bar Question?

A lot less front end sway in curves; otherwise, no difference. :excited:

I already have a fairly stiff ride on the road with the off-road package. Does this adjustment make the ride even stiffer?

(stiffer IS almost always better in most situations) :giggling: :dancingbanana:

:giggling:

I have the off-road pkg also and didn't notice much difference at all in the ride with 3 turns.
