Turtle Wax Ice
 

I read about Ice on this site so I thought I would try it on my Silverodo before I put it on the H3. It is awesome! Easy to apply, cut waxing time in half...the Hummer is next!
Question, has anyone put this stuff on a boat? The web site doesnt say anything about fiberglass.
What do you think??

Wow, I thought that stuff was horrible. I've got it sitting in my garage. I use it on the plastice and such. For that it seems to work great. On my paint it leaves streaks and such. Perhaps its no good on black? I tried it a number of times. It also leaves somewhat of a haze and the shine is like right on top of the car. Doesnt look deep at all. This is just my opinion. I tried giving it to my neighbor who said he already had it and it does the same thing to him. I actually think most of its shine comes from the micro fiber cloth. I use maguiers NXT tech wax. It seems to last shine nice and deep and last long. Sometimes I through Meguires gold gloss on there first if i have the time. And i wipe it all down with the nice micro fiber cloth the ice liquid polish came with.

I got some based on what I read here and wasn't impressed with it.. It's not wax, it's polish.. Left hard to remove streaks on the black RX-8 test subject (wife's car).. It did not cut through road grime deposits like a good wax.. Those spray polishes do as good as the Ice and are much easier to work with.

Best stuff I ever found was Turtle Wax Gold Carnuba.. That stuff leaves a great finsh, but is tough to work by hand.. You open the can and it looks like a can of bee's wax.. I haven't seen it or anything like it in several years now..

Interesting! My Silverado is silver, wifes Hummer is black. Now you have me wondering if I should use it. Anyone else try Ice on black??

TurtleWax Ice absolutely sucks as a wax, but is PERFECT when used on black trim.

:confused: All of my vehicles are black. I have used it and I love it. Easy to work, great shine, and it does not stain trim. It does streak windows so be cautious around the glass.

Perhaps the others that haven't had luck with it live in an area that is more extreme in environment (desert, high Sun UV exposure, etc). I live in south central Pennsylvania. This winter will be the first in using it so I'll be interested to see how it holds as it typically is the harshest season here.

Is everyone following the directions to the letter I wonder...? Keep in mind that there is the wax and then the touch up spray....

I use and am extremely happy with Turtle Wax's Platinum Ultra Gloss Car Wash followed by Meguiar's Spray on wax. I spray on Meguiar's while car is wet(one side at a time) and dry with a shammy. This will leave a haze! Just come back with a micro-fiber rag to buff/polish. The Turtle Wax Wash seems to work great on its own and keep the shine, so I don't use Meguiar's until the third or so wash. These products are very easy to apply and remove. Used on silver and WOULD NOT hesitate to use on black.

Hey man just try the ice. If it doesnt work let us know. I tried it 3 times. Im just posting what happend with me. And it is a polish like someone already said. So you still have to wax once in a while. I also purchased it based on what someone said in another hummer forum. I believe they said i wouldnt be sorry. grrrr. Stuff is great on plastic and rubber. I think its actually just some kind of mineral oil. I also have the spray detailer. It didnt help either. I think its the same as the wax only a little thinner. NXT spray detailer is better than that too. And if you have chrome. NXT metal polish is great. The metal polish takes a little work but its well worth it. As for the washing I use the turtle wax car soap. Dont remember what its called but smells like oranges. I've tried others and seems like this cheaper turtle wax soap does the same job if not better. Im wondering what you guys use to get out scratches???? I've got a few on my pass door. I was gonna try some of that colored turtle wax in black. ?????????

oh yea and i've also got the MR clean car wash thing. And i was amazed that it actually works. It will dry spot free. Even on my black truck. But after a few washes i noticed it changes the shine of the truck. I think it does this because its like coating your car with rainX or something. Almost like a filmy shine i supose. I gave it to my brother. And on a silver car it works great. very easy, very fast.

OK, so I finally got a chance to try the ICE on the Hummer, I found it easy, quick and guess what...NO STREAKS!!! I will continue to use it with the occasional waxing with regular wax.
Now back to my first question, has anyone tried ICE on fiberglass?

I posted pics of my silver H3 that I shined using the Ice. It workes just as good on fiberglass (jetskis) as it does the H3. After my initial use, I can report that it does NOT last a third as long as a conventional wax. With a lot of rain it was gone in a week! However, with a good carnuba wax base coat, this polish looks awesome and deep and is a great touch up if you were to carnuba wax your Hummeronce every three months or so followed by a monthly coating of Ice. As was stated before, it is a very fast way to shine up your junk.

Yeah - I think the ICE is better used as a polish, on top of a good base wax like Meguiar's, Zaino, etc. I put Meguiar's Gold on mine last night for a winter coat.

do you wax first, then polish? or other way around? Even if it doesnt rain, the dew in the morning leaves white drops on my black h3. What would keep it looking clean the longest? Turtle Ice?

A old limo trick for black cars/trucks is after you are done waxing you put corn starch in a sock and beat it around then wipe off the dust.
It will leave a deep shine and if touched wont leave fingerprints.

Well, I don't know if there is a specific instruction to applying the wax and polish. But I would imagine was first (which should already be on your H3 from the dealer) and then polish. Over the summer, I used the ICE polish and touch up over the dealer wax. And then yesterday, I waxed it with the Meguiar's Gold.

I'm almost positive there is no wax on the truck when you pick it up from the dealer. I had the same problem as Matt until I had a detailer wax it.

I just tried turtle wax ice again because of all this. I dont get it. Im getting such bad results. I'll be washing and waxing my car all over again tomorrow probly. Do you let it dry before you take it off? It says to let it dry but it never really does anyway. What is the secret to this stuff?
