While we are talking Onstar
My Onstar is up for renewal in Jan, is there any discounts to look for? What program does everyone have? and what about the XM discounts, what ever happened to them? I have until March to worry about the XM but never too early to try to save a few dollars to spend on the H3

This is a good question. Both my 3's are due for renewal in Jan also... RYD |
Re: While we are talking Onstar
Not sure, as employee I got a good discount. I went with the safe and sound package (might drop it in a week). As for XM, I met the director of their finance department a year ago, and that $3.00 per month was, according to him, an urban myth. (I know a few who called and tried it, all failed.)
I have three radios on XM, and never had any problems. Many like Sirius, but XM versus Sirius is like Chevy vs. Ford. You do get a discount for paying a year in advance, believe it is one-month free. |
Re: While we are talking Onstar
I can answer one of those b/c I just did this a week ago. Call 800-998-7900 and give them the promo code "GMWINBACK" , is good for 1yr/12months of service @ only $77! The normal 1yr pay in full/up-front is $143.00. I saved $66 on the service plus $15 for the reactivation fee (I didn't renew the 1st time). "GMWINBACK" was good for $81 total on my end!

Re: While we are talking Onstar
Xm also has a family plan, after the first one it's 6.99/month or so.
My inlaws get me a year at a time, I've got a small unit that I move between tractors, combines and dozer. |

Good info, I assume this only works if you let subscription expire for 1 month minimum, which means 1 month with risks RYD |
Re: While we are talking Onstar
What service is the 'GMWINBACK' good for?
Onstar for a year, and If so, What Package? Safe & Sound? or is it for... XM, at $77.00/ year. I only have Onstar, No XM Radio. An Onstar Promo or discount is what I'm looking for. |

Re: While we are talking Onstar
We renewed our Onstar, and added the H3 as a 3rd phone # through Verizon to our cell phone account for an extra $10/month.

I have the same thing with mine. The neat thing about it is that you can call forward, from your personal Cell phone to the H3, and anyone calling your personal Cell # will be diredted to the H3. And just so you know, Billing or Customer service questions for your Verizon account can only be answered by one office now. (I think they're in KY or TN) You need to call the Verizon 800 # and then type in your 10 digit H3 Cell tel. # in order to get routed to the right dept. 1-800-922-0204 There is only one office that is setup for Verizon Customers using an Onstar Device as their second or third line. Ask me how I know! AND trust me, you don't want the regular Verizon Customer Service reps helping you when you are using Onstar. The Verizon w/ Onstar folks are very knowledgable, and can answer all your requests. Now this is why it would be nice to have some sort of an Onstar Subscript promo, because you can't use the Verizon package unless you subscribe to Onstar. :twak: |

I'm sorry :crying: I'm locked into Cingular for another year. I love the hands free QUALITY on OnStar RYD (POPS) |
Re: While we are talking Onstar
I did not go with the Onstar phone because I am with Cingular. I did, however, get a Blue Ant wireless SuperTooth II. It is a portable handsfree bluetooth. It comes with a metal bracket for the sunvisor. The SuperTooth II has two magnets on the back and it just attaches to the sunvisor bracket. I get a call, I hit the talk button and talk. It can go anywhere, in or out of a car/truck.
As for XM - I am past my trial, had paid for one month. I called, mentioned the secret word and I am set for a full year at $77.00.:excited: |
Re: While we are talking Onstar
just renewed my xm for the $77:clapping:

Re: While we are talking Onstar
What is the deal with Verizon? I have them as my cell plan. I keep getting their flyers but I haven't yet sat down to dedicate the brain power... Can anyone summarize it into bullets?

1) 9.99 a month extra line. This is a 2nd cell phone # that becomes the Veh's new Tel. #. This charge is for the 2nd line and is added to your monthly plan charge. 2) Need to have one of the Verizon Family Share plans, to be eligable. For example, the 1400 minute anytime minute plan. 3) It is strictly a handsfree calling device. No voice mail or enhanced services. If you are in the car with the ignition on, calls can be made or rec'd. If the ignition is off, the phone will ring for the caller about three times and then just falls off. There is no ringing in the veh. unless the ignition is on. 4) The Onstar Device tel. # uses its minutes from your bank of monthly allowance minutes during peak calling. All other promotions for minute usage still apply. For example unlimited Verizon Wireless calls, Unlimited Nights & Weekends. Everything else is the same as with the Handset, asfar as the plan goes. You just don't have the voicemail and enhanced services. It works really well. The new Cell phones are Digital only for the most part now, to be compliant with the FCC. Starting with Model year 2008, the Onstar devices will also follow suit. Right now they are still Tri-Band, Digital/Analog. Analog, by its very nature carries further and with Onstar, gets a better signal in rural areas. I've been in VT, with no cell service but can make and receive calls with the Onstar Device no problem. That will all change in '08. Unless of course the Companies put up a lot more Cell antennas. It's like FM and AM. Now ther's XM. What will be next for Cell phones? |
Re: While we are talking Onstar
OnStar offers discounts if you sign up for longer terms. When I owned my Avalanche, I renewed for five years and it cost around $750 CAD. (About $550 USD at the time.) I was able to cancel when I sold my Avalanche, and used the money for the deposit on my H2. :D

You don't have to allow the subscription to expire. Mine expires Nov. 16, and they just gave me the $77.00 for the main radio, and the $83.00 each for the other radios on the account. It saved me $66.00:jump: |
Re: While we are talking Onstar
I haven't got Any Yet! ...Directions & Connections!......As far as the Cell service, I can get out on the 2 When My other two Services Fail! ;)
