In my opinion anyway. If a 'neck in Kansas can do it, why can't GM? They also convert the H2 to diesel for a 26mpg road/offroad warrior. I guess the question would then be, why not drive the H2?

The H3 Vortec V8 conversion for Hummer H3 consists of a new Vortec 6000 6.0 liter V8 engine specially matched with A factory 4L60E or a heavy duty 4L60EHD 4 speed automatic transmission, and your choice of either full time four wheel drive or selectable 2 wheel / 4 wheel drive heavy duty transfer case. This has actually been posted many, many times. The cost is $14,500.

And rumor is that GM IS doing this (or something similar) soon.

Rumor is wrong...there is no diesel going into an H2 for a few years, and the H3 is NOT going to get a 6.0L Vortec engine.

Putting 325 HP under the hood of an H3, and not beefing up the rear/front diff cases, means if you off-road, you will be paying a pretty penny for new cases. Needless to say, they would NOT be covered under warranty. About the only warranty left would be the radio or door switches.....

For GM to void a warranty, they must show that the modification affected the warranty. Switching the engine/trans will not affect the radio or door switches.:fdance:
Actually, there are quite a few other items that would not be affected, but the powertrain/chassis sure would be no longer under warranty.
