Undercarriage vibration

Has anyone experienced any undercarriage vibrations underneath the passenger side floorboard area, especially while stopped, in park, and at low idle? I think my H3's noise might be coming from a skid plate and I hope to check it out htis weekend. However, I wondered if this might be a common problem that someone else has experienced.

Thx :beerchug:

My front skid plate is missing a bolt on the passenger side and I get a rattle at certain rpms.

I bet that is it. I'll check. Those nutsmacks at Jiffy Lube forgot to put the bolts in the last time. Perhaps I missed one that they forgot.... :twak:

Mine was torqued wrong at the factory. It fell out on my first trip wheeling :(

I also have the same issue. I have checked all the bolts that I can but nothing was loose. The dealership did not find anything either. I will just keep an ear out.

Does everyone having this problem have skid plates? I am trying to decrease the variables to the solution.

I noticed mine vibrates the most when decresing RPMs, typically at a dead-stop.

I checked for loose bolts last night to no avail. There may be one more I have to check, but otherwise, none of them appear to be loose.

My H2 rattles while accelerating when reaching certain RPM's. The exhaust is also pinned now by the ladder-frame UCP. I think that's the cause. So maybe if you've got rattling, you've bent something into something else while off-road.

Replaced the missing bolt in the skid plate and the vibration is mostly fixed. I can just barely hear it under acceleration from a stop. I'm thinking about getting some rubber/elastomer washers to isolate the skid plate from the frame.

Re: Undercarriage vibration

Hey all,

I finally tracked the vibration down. It was the forward-most bracket support for the aircharger system. I tightened the hell out of it and I think the problem is solved.

I may remove that support and place a rubber shim underneath the bracket itself, along with rubber grommets above and below the bolt connections.

The bracket was vibrtating on the fender, thus the reason I thought it was a skid plate. The sound was very similar to a skid plate vibrating on a rail or frame part.

For those of you with the K&N 66 aircharger systems, you may want to inspect your supports to verify that yoor nuts and bolts are secure. While I happily admit that I have a few loose in my head, I am sure I tightened these down to the max when I installed the system. Engine vibration may be causing the nuts and bolts to loosen on these systems.
